A Whole New Baal Game

A Whole New Baal Game
"

ITEM: The Fourth Kind apparently makes use of Sumerian motifs, bringing a little AAT to the abduction party. Nothing new for hardcore UFOlogists, but as far as I know only The X-Files has fused the two memes. But speaking of Vancouver, a little film somehow escaped my attention last year- it's a Canadian horror epic called Ba'al: The Storm God. Apparently, I didn't miss much. And identifying Ba'al - a title meaning "Lord," and not necessarily a proper name - as a Sumerian god is not a good sign, considering there's a two-thousand year gulf between Sumer and the various Ba'al cults of the Phoenicians and the like.

But taking other people's gods and turning them into demons is a time-honored tradition. Ba'al later became the name of a demon in Christian mythology, as did most of the gods of the ancient world. After all, you can steal a people's land and treasure, murder their women and rape their children, but you haven't truly destroyed a people until you steal their gods. Just ask the Saxons.

ITEM: Art imitates life which imitates art again. We're all supposed to have a hearty chuckle at those New Age flakes in The Men Who Stare at Goats, but lo and behold, the Noetic sciences are alive and well in the military:

Warrior Mind Training is the brainchild of Ernst and two friends, who were teaching meditation and mind-training in California. In 2005, a Marine attended a class in San Diego and suggested expanding onto military bases. Ernst and her colleagues researched the military mindset, consulting with veterans who had practiced meditation on the battlefield and back home. She also delved into the science behind mind training to analyze how meditation tactics could help treat - and maybe even help prevent - post-traumatic stress disorder.

Rooted in the ancient Samurai code of self-discipline, Warrior Mind Training draws on the image of the mythic Japanese fighter, an elite swordsman who honed his battle skills along with his mental precision. The premise? Razor-sharp attention plus razor-sharp marksmanship equals fearsome warrior. I've been keeping my eye on the latest developments in the professional military (read: the mercenary army), wondering when the Supersoldier will finally emerge. This Samurai wrinkle is interesting- I wonder if future recruits will learn the ancient Samurai art of nanshoku.

ITEM: The big movie for the Christmas season is 2012, because nothing rings in the season like genocide and catastrophe. But a post on Mike Bara's Dark Mission blog caught my eye in regards to some of the theorizing on what I like to call "Y2012K"- the research of Andy Lloyd, who believes that Planet X is a brown dwarf star and Nibiru is a moon in its orbit.

I've heard theories to this effect and I think they're pretty interesting. Astronomers gnash their teeth and pull their hair, claiming that such an object would be one of the brightest objects in the sky, but I've also heard some more adventurous astronomers claim that Planet X has much longer than a 3600 year orbit. Anyhow, I recommend taking a look at Bara's post and Lloyd's site. If for no other reason than it will probably manifest itself in our pop culture fairly soon, given how ravenous the appetite for ideas for new CGI blockbusters is.

For my part, it all ties into the secret sun meme, with the Sirius symbology and all the rest of it.

ITEM: I've been watching episodes of True Blood and I'm digging it. It ties into a major theory I've been nursing- the ensemble cast as a precursor to a new kind of cultural polytheism. It's interesting to note that not only did the relentless attacks of AAT parallel the rise of the Religious Right, the revival of movie superhero as savior did as well.

Think about it- Rambo, Terminator, Conan, Batman, Dirty Harry, James Bond- all are based on the ludicrous fantasy that one man can defeat extremely well-armed armies of Other. It was the same mythos that put Ronald Reagan into office. Note how that meme began to wane with the Bush II era and the superhero team and ensemble cast (think Battlestar Galactica) came to the fore. Ironic how a liberal variant of the messiah mythos seems to be dissolving in front of our eyes today.

I'll be writing about it in-depth, but I'm fascinated how True Blood picks up where my lamented Blade: The Series left off. Unlike the feature films, I saw Blade as a nuisance in the series and was a lot more interested in the dynamics in the vampire families (I'm pretty sure the writers were as well).

As with Twilight, the vampires in True Blood are nothing less than superheroes for aspiring goths. True Blood's Erik, Twilight's Edward Cullen and Blade's Marcus Van Sciver are the same exact archetype- the vampire as cultured, vaguely-effete godling and nearly-omnipotent sex object. But even these formidable characters are themselves are beholden to a Byzantine network of councils and figureheads. Fascinating dynamic, there. Strangely enough, there's some monotheist bashing in True Blood, though it's poor, blameless Dionysus that's taking all the lumps. Weird.

More on all of this in the days to come. There's a whole psychosexual component to all of this as well, but that's a bit outside my ballywick. At least for the time being.

Introduction To Cyber Wicca

Introduction To Cyber Wicca

CYBER WICCA

Cyber Wicca-the art of living that integrates rational and irrational process through mythopoetic structures primarily from Wicca, then neo-Paganism and other related religious belief systems. It should incorporate knowledge from newer and emerging humanistic sciences. Principles of ethical self-programming as written of by Timothy Leary, John Lilly, Robert Anton Wilson, Antero Alli, and John Hyatt should be incorporated into the relational processes, those setting between solar and lunar knowledge.

It should be a political-religious-psychological system to support and meet the needs of individuals who feel both a romantic and classical approach is needed in their life. These needs could be formatted into solar and lunar knowledge bases, rational, irrational and relational process could all be used to a maximal degree.

Cyber Wicca could incorporate many of the concepts contained in Humanist Manifesto II.

Cyber Wicca should be a newer religious system that is more importantly a mode of thinking. Smart thinking usually leads to smart living. Additionally the application of Cyber Wicca to mundane life should be easy and seamless. Instead of taking the individual out of the social complex it should enable them to integrate easily with the social complex.

Cyber Wicca should appeal to the atheist as well as the religionist as it focuses upon mythopoetic stories and structures and the mystical connections between what is and is not seen, as opposed to dogmatic theoretical structures.

Theoretical structures could be included as long as they are considered metaphorical structures or models existing within the human mind first and foremost. These structures can then be used to ferret out deep personal meaning.

Kingdoms or Domains are used metaphorically. More properly they represent areas of interest. Higher and lower relate to density of item more than social, cultural or ethical placement. Higher and lower display some cultural heritage. Higher should normally refer to more dense, thus would usually be considered the Lower Kingdoms in spirit focused theoretical structures.

"EXTERNAL (PUBLIC) Faces"

RELIGIOUS ASPECTS--LOW DOMAIN

The low domain or Kingdom, the basis of the religious belief system, should reflect WoMankind's ethical relationship to their home planet. The Earth can be personified or considered the Grandmother or Mother of WoMankind, depending upon personal focus. It could be called Mom, Mother or the Matrix, the space enabling the existence of all physical and non-physical local planetary lifeforms. ["The solar processes could consider this a "SELF CHECK" to prohibit WoMankind from polluting their environment to the detriment of all lifeforms.]

Other Matrixes may exist. Cyber Wicca should be concerned with local planetary manifestations without denying the existences of other Matrixes.

Other personified or romantic entities could exist within the matrix. These could be the Lady and Lord and be more important or of a relatively more immediate nature being seen as doorways to other entities; other spaces, physical energetic natures or psychic spaces.

WORKING OF THE CRAFT--MID DOMAIN

The metaphorical mid domain or Middle Kingdom could be the workings of the Craft. At the beginning level the emphasis could be upon the physical. Special tools could be selected for an individual or group. These tools may or may not reflect traditional usage but should be more appropriate for a culture and/or geographical locale than for a traditional usage.

Special robes may be appropriate. Nudity could be more useful for metaprogramming. The individuals background should be considered before choosing tools or coverings. If the individual were normally a naturist the metaprogramming tool could be robes, etc.

Tools and rituals could be used for immediate metaprogramming efforts. Dramatic ritual could be used to advantage for both individual programming or group alignment.

Experiments in communication with non-physical or discarnate entities could be a major focus. New modes of relationship in sexual or emotional life could be incorporated providing members feel comfortable with the activities. Safety, both physical and emotional, should be paramount. Training of individuals for incorporation may be needed to assist them in their growth into unknown areas.

PHYSICAL SCIENCES INCORPORATED--HIGH DOMAIN

The metaphorical high domain or Kingdom could be the human and physical knowledge systems, ie, health (BIRTHING, CHILD CARE AND PHYSICAL HEALTH), nutritional, exercise, cosmetic and creative knowledge systems, ie. sewing, cooking, building sciences, gardening and organic farming techniques, and personal defense techniques.

Cyber Wicca could define the extent or degree of immersion in a Domain. The individual or group could decide for themselves what extent they need to go.

ORGANIZATION

Cyber Wicca could attempt to incorporate proven techniques of cell or smaller group management while retaining intimacy. Cyber Wiccan leaders could be of either sex, of any sexual preference, but must be emotionally sound. They may choose their own names and titles. Or Cyber Wicca may assign a title in order to establish a somewhat formalized but unrestricted tradition.

Group or cell size should be held to about 2 to 15. However any number of cell members may be used providing genuine intimacy is maintained.

Cyber Wicca should attempt to meet the economic and political needs of its members. Resources are available that address political activities in cells. An economic base must be established in Cyber Wiccan method. Should a social threat arise individual members may need to support themselves in a strange or different environment. Personal enrichment and empowerment as opposed to personal aggrandizement should be the focus enabling the member to live well in any difficult or strange economic or political environment.

"INTERNAL FACES"

These are internal considerations not usually presentable to the public at large. Pearls are delicate, we need not dirty them. Internal faces can be determined at a later time.

Cyber Wicca is a game; the game of Life. Play it!

I do hereby place into the public domain the noun, name and/or term "CYBER WICCA". Any and all may use it without cost, fee or royalty. And none may charge cost, fee or royalty for its usage.

Crafting Wiccan Traditions

Crafting Wiccan Traditions
Crafting Wiccan Traditions: Creating a Foundation for Your Spiritual Beliefs & Practices by Raven Grimassi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Since the 1980's the face of Wicca has changed greatly. During the 60's and 70's much of it was coven based and the publications on Wicca were rather rare. In the next millennium most Wiccans are solitary and practice the religion by themselves. Solitaires will perchance attend workshops and public celebration. Most of their knowledge comes from book. Scott Cunningham, one of Raven's students, helped bring about that change. Author Raven Grimassi recognizes and validates this change at the same same time he recognizes and validates the older traditions and roots of the craft. Surely Wicca is changing. I for one have no access to a coven and many people find covens to require to much involvement. Some of us want a group so we can band together and grown together. It is never a good idea to go through spiritual growth in isolation. Many people are now forced into creating their own tradition, something I consider very valid inlight of how Gardner invented or created his tradition and from what I have read while studying chaos magick theories.

I took some notes while reading this book. I was rather taken off guard when I learned that there are many Wiccans who are eschewing the practice of magic and keeping Wicca to just a spiritual religion. No less I did take a few notes on this book. Gnome= Earth, sylphs= air

Salamander = fire. Undines= water.

Watchers or guardian are a race of spiritual being that watch over man kind.

Other world is place of elves and faery races while the underworld is abode of the dead awaiting rebirth. Much like Summerland. Gods have there own dwelling place.

Two types of magick. Raised Magick is generated from within and drawn magick comes from outside the material realm.

Astral realm is where thought are transformed into material. A thought form is etheric substance bound to thought. A strong will, empowered visuization draws Astral substance to itself.

Thought forms once completed travel to the elemental realm which consists of earth, fire, water, air. Once absorbing qualities needed then it heads to the material realm.

Space between the worlds occurs when circle Is cast. Is between spiritual and material realms.

Outside of my notes which covered magic and Wicca in general, the author gives the reader vital information on how to get started in building their own tradition. The importance in finding a theme with which to build your paradigm which could include agricultural themes, other worldly themes etc. Raven also tells us to research the different mythologies ie Greek, Celtic, Mesopotamian, Egyptian so we can choose one to work with. He advises against matching deities across different mythologies as this may short circuit any action we are doing. Plus the deities themselves are known not to like such things. It even wise to be careful how you pair up deities from the same tradition. There is a full overview of tools and what their symbolism is along with a full complement of correspondences regarding herbs and stones. This books gives you the building blocks for creating your own tradition along with how to construct your own book of shadows.

The appendices are great. They have sample sabbat and lunar rights in both group and solitaire format. Definitely a great book. Raven Grimassi always produced top notch stuff.

But, submit is zip bestow to proove that! Once all, The Wiccan Rede prerequisite be adopted by *all* practitioners of magick, for entirely a mess about would cast spells that do sooner than next what The Wiccan Rede states. Once all, there's far too notably pessimism in the world, as it is...why would you neediness to add to that? Further, but this book...it's Fine. Albeit, not without favoritism as good as the other 2 books in the series for 2 reasons: I inspection that she would carry included some information or idease for Enthusiasm Altars and the Pagan Examination distinct as Handfasting. 2.) And, as a fan of the magickal oil recipes of Morgaga, from "Morgana's Study" I had established some of her exclusive magickal incense and oil recipes within it. But, don't allow frequent laccking bits of info. to dtere you.

Especially I love the introduction as well as the beginning of the cover period, which gives an sweeping statement of the type of hallucination vital to improve your goals since spell casting. Equally, she has included appendixes in the back of the book that cede senior thorough information on moon phases, planets, and color correspondences, so you know the best time to perform singular spells. And Hoary RavenWolf does make it without favoritism free from blame that the wiccan rede is opposed to manipulating the free ghost of others, cancellation to what some other reviews may carry you stay on the line. This book is on paper for what's more beginners and unappeasable practioners of the craft. I would definatley reccomend this book.

You know what really pissed me off back in 1993. Whenever I was interviewed by the media, they continually described me as a "Body Proclaimed or Body Described Witch or Wiccan." Despite the fact that while they interviewed a Christian Place of worship they described him as "Vicar So but not Clergy.

Magic Books Every Wiccan Should Read

Magic Books Every Wiccan Should Read
Now that you've decided you want to learn about Wicca, what should you read? After all, there are literally thousands of books on the subject -- some good, others not so much. This list features the thirteen books that every Wiccan should have on their shelves. A few are historical, a few more focus on actual Wiccan practice, but they're all worth reading more than once.

Adler, Margot: Drawing Down the Moon

If you want to learn about birds, you get a field guide about birds. If you want to learn about mushrooms, you get a field guide to mushrooms. Drawing Down the Moon is a field guide to Pagans. Rather than offering up a book of spells and recipes, Margot Adler presents an academic work that evaluates modern Pagan religions - including Wicca - and the people who practice them. The work is based on a survey the author took over two decades ago, but the information within is still a worthy read. Drawing Down the Moon makes no apologies for the fact that not all Wiccans are full of white light and fluff, but instead tells it like it is. Adler's style is entertaining and informative, and it's a bit like reading a really well-done thesis paper.

Buckland, Raymond: Complete Book of Witchcraft

Raymond Buckland is one of Wicca's most prolific writers, and his work Complete Book of Witchcraft continues to remain popular two decades after it was first published - and for good reason. Although this book represents a more eclectic flavor of Wicca rather than a particular tradition, it's presented in a workbook-like format that allows new seekers to work through the exercises at their own pace, learning as they go. For more seasoned readers, there's a lot of useful information as far as rituals, tools, and magic itself. This book is a classic, and well worth picking up.

Cunningham, Scott: Wicca - A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner

The late Scott Cunningham wrote a number of books before his untimely death, but Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner remains one of the best known and most useful. Although the tradition of witchcraft in this book is more Cunningham's eclectic path than any other tradition, it's full of information on how to get started in your practice of Wicca and magic. He goes into depth about tools, how and why they are used, ethics, and the concept of god and goddess. If you're interested in learning and practicing as an individual, and not necessarily jumping into a coven right off the bat, this book is a valuable resource.

Curott, Phyllis: Witch Crafting

Phyllis Curott is one of those people who makes me glad to be Pagan -- because she's really normal. An attorney who has spent her life working on First Amendment issues, Curott has managed to put together a really useful book. Witch Crafting is not a collection of spells, rituals or prayers. It's a hard and fast look at magical ethics, the polarity of male and female in the divine, finding the god and goddess in your everyday life, and the pros and cons of coven life vs. solitary paths. Curott also offers up a very interesting take on the Rule of Three. Whether you're a new student of Wicca, or a veteran, Witch Crafting is worth reading more than once.

Eilers, Dana: Pagans and the Law - Understand Your Rights

Dana D. Eilers spent many years facilitating an event called Conversations With Pagans, and from that she wrote a book entitled The Practical Pagan. She then drew on her experience as an attorney to write Pagans and the Law: Understand Your Rights. This book goes into depth about precedents in religious discrimination lawsuits, how to protect yourself if you may be a victim of workplace harassment, and how to document everything if your spirituality is leading someone to treat you unfairly. Eilers is an outspoken woman who has a lot of great advice worth listening to.

Farrar, Janet And Stewart: The Witches' Bible

The first section of this book is Eight Sabbats for Witches. It goes into depth on Sabbat rites, and the meanings behind the holidays are expanded on. While the ceremonies in The Witches' Bible are the Farrars' own, there's a heavy influence of the Gardnerian tradition, as well as Celtic folklore and some other European history. The second half of the book is in fact another book, The Witches Way, which looks at the beliefs, ethics, and practice of modern witchcraft. Despite the fact that the authors are a bit conservative by today's standards, this book is an excellent look at the transitioning concept of what exactly it is that makes someone a witch.

Gardner, Gerald: Witchcraft Today

Gerald Gardner is the founder of modern Wicca as we know it, and of course of the Gardnerian tradition. His book Witchcraft Today is a worthy read, however, for seekers on any Pagan path. He discusses paganism in Europe, as well as the so-called "witch cult", and goes on to demonstrate how many of history's notable names are connected, one way or another, to what we know today as witchcraft. Although some of the statements in Witchcraft Today should be taken with a grain of salt -- after all, Gardner was a folklorist and that shines through in his writing -- it's still one of the foundations that contemporary Wicca is based on. For its historical value, few things beat this book.

Hutton, Ronald: Triumph of the Moon

Triumph of the Moon is a book about Pagans by a non-Pagan, and Hutton, a highly respected professor, does an excellent job. This book looks at the emergence of contemporary Pagan religions, and how they not only evolved from the Pagan societies of the past, but also owe heavily to 19th-century poets and scholars. In fact, Hutton points out that a good deal of what we consider "ancient" Pagan practice can be attributed to the novelists and romantics of the late Edwardian and early Victorian era. Despite his status as a scholar, Hutton's breezy wit makes this a refreshing read, and you'll learn far more than you ever expected to about today's Pagan religions.

Morrison, Dorothy: The Craft - A Witch's Book of Shadows

Dorothy Morrison is one of those writers who doesn't hold back, and while her book The Craft is aimed at beginners, she manages to create a work that can be useful for anyone. Morrison includes exercises and rituals which are not only practical, but teaching tools as well. Despite its focus on the lighter side of witchcraft, it's a good starting point for anyone trying to learn about Wicca, and how to create your own rituals and workings. Morrison also has written a number of other books, including a companion work to this one.

Russell, Jeffrey: A History of Witchcraft

Historian Jeffrey Russell presents an analysis of witchcraft in an historical context, from the early days of Medieval Europe, through the witch craze of the Renaissance, and up into modern times. Russell doesn't bother trying to fluff up the history to make it more palatable to today's Wiccans, and takes a look at three different kinds of witchcraft -- sorcery, diabolical witchcraft, and modern witchcraft. A noted religious historian, Russell manages to make an entertaining yet informative read, as well as accepting that witchcraft in and of itself can in fact be a religion.

Serith, Ceisiwr: A Book of Pagan Prayer

There is nothing else on the market like Ceisiwr Serith's A Book of Pagan Prayer. Despite the fact that some view prayer as a Christian concept, many Pagans do pray. This unique book features hundreds of prayers written to meet the needs of Pagans from a wide range of traditions. There are prayers for life events, such as handfastings, births, and deaths; for times of the year such as the harvest and midsummer, as well as petitions and litanies offered to different gods. Serith also covers the theories behind prayer -- how and why we do it, as well as tips on creating your own, personal prayers. Chances are that once you've started using this book, it will stay near your altar for years to come.

Starhawk: The Spiral Dance

While The Spiral Dance is one of the best-known books on Wicca, it's also one of the most spiritually profound. Written by noted activist Starhawk, The Spiral Dance leads us on a journey through the spirituality of feminine consciousness. Sections on raising the cone of power, trance magic, and magical symbolism make it worth reading. Bear in mind that the original edition of this book was published twenty years ago, and Starhawk herself has said she's reconsidered some of the things she said the first time around -- particularly in reference to the polarity of the male/female. Despite some of the eco-feminist complaints about Starhawk, this book is powerful because it's one of the first of its kind, portraying Woman as Goddess.

Valiente, Doreen: Witchcraft for Tomorrow

If Gerald Gardner is the great-grandfather of modern Wicca, Doreen Valiente is the wise granny who offers wisdom and counsel. A contemporary of Gardner's, she is credited with the beautiful, evocative Charge of the Goddess, and may well have been responsible for much of Gardner's original Book of Shadows. Valiente spends a good amount of the book discussing the historical contexts of a number of rituals and practices in use today, but also takes care to acknowledge that practices and beliefs change even if the intent remains constant, and she points out ancient sources that may or may not be the root of contemporary ideals. Though it helps to have some knowledge of British Traditional Wicca beforehand, this book is a must-read for anyone.

Holocaust Remembrance Day And Two New Saints

Holocaust Remembrance Day And Two New Saints
There are no coincidences in the kingdom of God, both on earth and in heaven. Today we celebrate the canonization of two modern popes and this evening the world begins the annual observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day. Both Saint Pope John XXIII and Saint Pope John Paul II had a significant impact on the lives of countless Jewish people in modern times. During WW2, as ambassador to Turkey, Cardinal Roncali (John 23rd) helped thousands of Jews escape the Nazi purge.

"We are dealing with one of the great mysteries in the history of humanity, Roncalli wrote about the Holocaust. Poor children of Israel. Daily I hear their groans around me. They are relatives and fellow countrymen of Jesus. May the Divine Savior come to their aid and enlighten them."

Later on as the pope who called the second Vatican Council, Saint Pope John XXIII was responsible for the document "Nostra Aetate" (In Our Time) whose purpose was to repair the breach that existed for a hundreds of years between the Jews and the Catholic Church. Some excerpts below:

"Since the spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews is thus so great, this sacred synod wants to foster and recommend that mutual understanding and respect which is the fruit, above all, of biblical and theological studies as well as of fraternal dialogues."

"Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God, as if this followed from the Holy Scriptures."

"Furthermore, in her rejection of every persecution against any man, the Church, mindful of the patrimony she shares with the Jews and moved not by political reasons but by the Gospel's spiritual love, decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone."

Saint Pope John Paul II who was also present at the Vatican II council was also a strong advocate for the Jews during his pontificate and apologized for the Church's mistreatment and persecution of the Jews through the centuries. He too lived through WWII and saw the Holocaust unfold around him. He was the first pope since Peter to enter the Great Synagogue of Rome and pray with the Rabbis and the Jewish community.

"You are our beloved brothers... you are our elder brothers" in the faith of Abraham."

"Who meets Jesus Christ meets Judaism. He described Jews as the people of God of the Old Covenant never retracted by God."

Here is the prayer he left in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem when he prayed there:

"We are deeply saddened by the behaviour of those who in the course of history have caused these children of yours to suffer, and asking your forgiveness we wish to commit ourselves to genuine brotherhood with the people of the Covenant."

We can see the wisdom of God in coinciding the canonization of these two great saints on Divine Mercy Sunday and the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day. May we, as Catholic Christians, always sense the paternity we have with the Jews and pray that such a holocaust will never happen again.

Gripping details from today's Related Break down about neopagans in Russia. I do exceptional person how undeniable it is, even if secret message seems roughly mistaken. Russian pagans from ancient cult reception solstice

By SERGEI PONOMAREV Related Break down Author

Jul 5th, 2009 MALOYAROSLAVETS, Russia -- Tambourine yearning in hand, Velislav chants to gods whose cult has in the vicinity been obliterated by a millennium of Christianity in Russia.

A variety of hundred following at home linen, ancient Slavic bric-a-brac and flower garlands circle around the high priest to revelry the summer solstice, in an all-night revelry fought by the Russian Up front Church for centuries. The fearless faces of bearded gods and stern goddesses top a temple of traditional logs.

These are Russia's neo-pagans, whose ranks are speculative in the low thousands. Track a handful of pagan groups are legitimately registered in this in the main Up front Christian authority with cosmic Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish minorities. The split pagan groups repetitively fight about the truth of rituals, the ranking of priests or the pantheon of gods.

The Up front Church claims neo-pagans are mainly curious in the entertainment of the rituals, and truly some are pagans of superlative. They are also suggest seeing that right-wing nationalists who wedge the migration of non-Slavs bother meant some of their members are neo-pagan. In after February, four pagans were arrested in Moscow and charged with organizing a series of explosions and the cruel massacre of 11 dark-skinned non-Slavs.

On this night of the summer solstice, the pagans cull on a aromatic handle communicate the municipal of Maloyaroslavets, some 200 kilometers west of Moscow. They go by way of a fertility rite recognizable as Ivan Kupala -- resulting from the Slavic word "TO SOLUTION" -- whose aim is self-purification, unity with armed forces of fabrication and the commemoration of the Sun god, Velislav says.

Priests disappear string on the bump, and emergent women with braided hair assistance loaves of unleavened currency and kvas, a nonalcoholic predilection finished of rye. As heaviness drop, they kick via bonfires, ride fired pompous wheels symbolizing the Sun chariot and fly fired candles in a end watercourse to attract good luck.

Dmitri Pankratov, who goes by Ragnar in the middle of his friends, says Slavic paganism is the truly true religion for Russians. Extra sincere "ARE BRANCHES GRAFTED TO A TREE," Pankratov says on the crack of dawn at what time the revelry. "None of them are a explore of the take part."

What Is Paganism

What Is Paganism
"The term Pagan has numerous common definitions. Many dictionaries define a Pagan as anyone not of the Judeo-Islamic-Christian religions. Some people consider anyone who does not share their religion to be a Pagan. Still others believe that a Pagan is a person who is anti-religion. None of these "definitions" manage to capture the true meaning of the term.

"To discover the core meaning of Pagan, we look back to ancient times when the word Pagan referred to a person of the country, or a peasant.

{deletia... in summary, several paragraphs relating the history of the Catholic Church and the poor peasants' inability to relate. Brief description of the "glory of the Goddess and God in each starry night" and note of the inconsistencies of the original Pagan beliefs with the Catholic church. Also, several paragraphs detailing the development of of the Church's campaign to expunge Paganism, some of the methods employed and the subsequent Witch Hunts. Finally, an overall summary of the persecution. If interested, let me know and I'll post it separately.}

"Paganism in Modern Times

"Today, little is known about the Pagans who survived what is now often called "The Burning Times." Paganism, as it exists today, is best described as the practice of any of a number of nature-based religions, traditions that find their roots all over the world. {Liana- sound familiar?} Many modern Pagans call themselves "Neo-Pagans" to declare their religion as a revival of the old beliefs.

{more deletia... in summary, two paragraphs comparing contemporary Pagans to the peasants of old, extolling our intelligence and involvement in technology. Also a paragraph defusing the Satanism comparison. Again, if interested, let me know and I'll post it.}

"What do Modern Pagans Believe?

"Paganism is actually a large umbrella containing a number of nature-based religions beneath it, from the European-originated Wicca and Druidism, to African Yoruba traditions and Hawaiian Huna. As a result of this diversity, it is impossible to make statements about the beliefs of Pagans that will apply to *all* {italics} Pagans. However, some statements can be made that will, in general, apply to a vast number of Pagans.

"Many Pagans tend to:

"* Be polytheists, believing in more than one deity or more than one aspect of a single deity.

"* Be pantheists, seeing the God/Goddess force represented in everything around them.

"* Recognize the divinity of the feminine as well as the masculine, not seeing masculinity as a superior force.

"* Believe that the life force is sacred, and that nature, as a vital representation of that force, is divine.

"* Believe that all life forms are equal, sharing an equal claim to the earth as a home.

"* Believe that each individual is solely responsible for his or her actions.

"* Believe that the forces of nature can be shaped in ways commonly called "magical."

"* Believe that magical acts designed to bend one to another's will are manipulative, and not encouraged.

"* Believe that whatever actions a person takes, magical or mundane, good or bad, come back to him/her, sometimes threefold.

"* Believe that there is no single path to spiritual fulfillment, and that the individual must determine the spiritual expression most appropriate to him or her.

"* Believe in reincarnation, or some form of life after death.

How do Pagans Practice Their Religion?

"Many Pagans find spiritual expression through the practice of ritual, or religious ceremony. These rituals, often held at significant points in lunar or solar cycles, offer an opportunity for Pagans to commune with the Goddesses and Gods, to celebrate the passages of life, and to work magic.

{deletia... in summary, paragraphs relating techniques to "raise power" explaining that we don't espouse "power over" (my words). Also outlines goals that many pagans have in mine when raising of power. Outlines the sabbats, and relates the pattern of the seasons. Briefly describes Beltane and Samhain. Once again, let me know if you would like to see this text.}

"Each Pagan religion has its own special way of recognizing the passing of the seasons and personal life passages. Ritual offers a way to imbue these moments with magic and reverence.

{deletia... last paragraph giving information on how the reader can learn more about Paganism, specifically in the Bay Area, and relating the goal that BAPA has in mind.}

Psychic Visualization How Can It Improve Your Life

Psychic Visualization How Can It Improve Your Life
Control The Imagination Through Visualization

Have you ever heard the sayings, "You are what you think," or "Be careful what you think for your thoughts will become your reality?" The mind is a very powerful organ that can have a great deal of influence over our everyday behavior. Some people are able to harness and enhance this power through a mental agility practice known as visualization.

Visualization is a meditative practice used for many purposes. The psychiatry and wellness fields use visualization as a mental health tool that can also have physical implications. The psychic community also utilizes visualization, and for similar reasons. The mind is an amazing, yet complicated, device that has unlimited potential. Visualization taps into that potential and utilizes it for specific purposes.

In the most rudimentary of definitions, visualization is simply the ability to form a mental image in your mind. It is a subset of imagination. As children, our lives were based, at least in part, on our ability to imagine. Children have the amazing capability to create alternate existences for themselves, and then to step into those scenarios. Who among us didn't play house as a young girl and imagine ourselves as a parent; or drive trucks through the mud with us at the wheel? Imagination is a vital part of cognitive development. Unfortunately, our ability to imagine, and more importantly our willingness to engage that side of us, gets lost as we mature into a world that seems to necessitate adult sensibility over creativity. The ability to visualize our realities is a skill we are all born with. We simply lose it somewhere along the way.

Visualization is the process of tapping into and controlling the imagination; giving it a more focused, visual form. The brain doesn't differentiate between the real and the imagined. It is therefore possible to literally create your own reality. There are a myriad of motivational statements that are rooted in this belief, such as, "If you can see it, you can be it." That is the basis of psychic visualization. Beginners are often encouraged to start with an image, give it more detail, and then learn to control it with more influence.

As with any psychic ability, honing this skill requires discipline and persistence. The first step is developing a meditative routine that works for you. Find a quiet space and make it your own. Clear out any negative energy. It is recommended that you try to meditate at the same time each day in order to train both your mind and your spirits. The more of a routine you have, the easier it will be to develop this practice.

The mind is extremely powerful. Unfortunately, many people do not do enough to harness and embrace their mental abilities. Visualization and meditation go hand in hand. They are both excellent ways to slow down your mind, tap into your spiritual and mental powers, and change your reality. Remember, if you can see, it you can be it.

Paganism An Introduction To Earth Centered Religions

Paganism An Introduction To Earth Centered Religions

BOOK: PAGANISM AN INTRODUCTION TO EARTH CENTERED RELIGIONS BY RIVER HIGGINBOTHAM

Most pagan primers jump right into the seasonal calendar, Celtic strands, pentagrams, spell casting and the like. True to form, this offers a judicious overview of the calendar and the general Characteristics and essentials of Paganism as the Higginbothams see it interconnectedness and blessedness. To their credit, though, the authors have crafted a very different kind of book, one of great spiritual depth that could be of genuine and lasting service to anyone who is interested in sorting out the whats and whys of belief. Early on, they outline the "big tent" of Paganism that shelters a dozen or more passageways (Wicca, Druidism, Shamanism, Santer?a, etc.), comparing it to Christianity and its popular denominations (Methodist, Roman Catholic, etc.). Throughout, they employ calm and rational prose that seeks not to proselytize as much as to aid discernment, making good on the authors' claim that, "Whether or not you decide to be a Pagan once you finish [the book] is not as important as providing you with tools to help you identify your values and goals." The seven chapters are nicely paced with illustrations, diagrams, Visualization exercises, discussion points and journal prompts, all of which can be used by individuals or groups. The authors tackle the charge of Satanism head-on with success, but even more progressively (and clearly) they weave new discoveries in physics into the life fabric of belief and action. The final chapter explores ethics, and similar to the others, serves the broadest common good.

The founders of both a pagan church and the Council for Alternative Spiritual Traditions, the Higginbothams here offer an overview of the belief systems comprising neopaganism. Included in the discussion are Wicca, Shamanism, Asatru, Celtic traditionalism, Druidism, Santeria, Voodoo, and other forms prevalent in paganism today. The authors proceed from central concepts of interconnectedness and blessedness, to a definition of neopaganism and a discussion of personal responsibility for one's beliefs, to concepts of Deity, Satan, the living universe, "magick," and ethics. The format is similar to that of many self-help books, with text, diagrams, discussion questions, and meditation exercises. This clear, rational, and sympathetic introduction to neopaganism for nonpagans will be helpful to all readers interested in exploring their spirituality. This first book by the Higginbothams complements existing introductions, such as Margot Adler's Drawing Down the Moon and Graham Harvey's Contemporary Paganism: Listening People, Speaking Earth, at least one of which libraries should already have. Recommended for public and undergraduate libraries and for religion collections.

This book goes in two directions. First is a very good overview of many of the different groups that are under general Paganism. Explored are the basic philosophies and beliefs of Druids, Wiccans, Asatru, shamanism, magic, general paganism and all the various offshoots. There is a good section on many of the various paths under that 'umbrella'. There are many theories that have given rise to the modern pagan movement that are explored as well. There is discussion on what makes the pagan paths different from other World Religions and discusses beliefs and practices as well as myths and misinformation.

The second direction of this book is a basic handbook on the practices of many of the different beliefs. From the Wheel of the Year to connecting with personal Deity to individual responsibility, the book reads as a guide to incorporating many of the philosophies and basic Tenets of these beliefs into your own life. Ethics are also discussed throughout the book and there is a good chapter on Ethics and Personal Responsibility.

The book also has 'aids', or subsections that allow the reader to absorb or digest the material in the book, encouraging the reader to think about the material, add it to their journals for further research, discuss with others or question for themselves. This gives the book more of a handbook feeling.

There are good notes for each chapter, a glossary and an excellent bibliography that allow the reader to pursue those things they may find they want to explore further. There is also an index for easy reference. There is much information in this book that is worth looking over. If you are unfamiliar with Paganism in general, this is a good primer. If you are looking to expand your base of knowledge on Paganism, this book offers a good overview. And if you are looking for a good basic handbook, while there are many specific to the various paths, this book would make a good overall view for those who are looking at the various paths and need a guide or are looking at paganism in general for their path.

Exclusive Interview Mike Martello

Exclusive Interview Mike Martello
"Mike Martello is Head of the "Wu Tan Federation of Belgium", co-teaching with the Wu Tan Creation in Taipei Taiwan. Having been studying and teaching belligerent arts for another time twenty five time, Mike has qualified and performed in Europe, Canada, South America, Taiwan and straddling the U.S. He is a generally and internationally ranked entrant in Chinese belligerent arts (gold, silver, figure medalists, 86-88, 90-92 and 94-2000 U.S. Nationals and Intercontinental Competitions)."

"Not long awarded the Taiwanese Kuo Shu award of play a role for his work in Chinese belligerent arts, Mike continues to travel and study Chinese Warring Arts in Taiwan with Grandmaster Wang Chieh, specializing in Yue Jia San Shou (Yue Cutback Slant), Ba Bu Tanglang (Praying Mantis), Bai He Chuan (Ancient Pull), Enlist Locking (Chin-Na), Tai Chi, Shoot Hands (Tuei Shou) and Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling)."

PATRICK PARKER: Whichever of my readers clasp told me that you were the greatest extent great belligerent inventor that they'd ever gotten to closely work with. Since do you reflect are your sensitive strengths as a belligerent inventor and as a counselor of belligerent arts?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: Pat, "great" is a gracious acknowledgment by your readers, really I am nonbeing compared to my teachers and mentors and the common others I clasp met from beginning to end my actions another time the time. I clasp had the fracture to heavy some great lay claim to who helped me, emotional me and qualified me luxury dreams; these are the ones who could do with get the accolades; my Twitch, Wang Cheih Laoshi and common others. I would flight of the imagination to thank them all!

.

The end part of the questions is difficulty, Pat; it takes above than one fad to recovered understand your examination, I impulse try to sum it up.

.

Well, my life experiences and all my mistakes in life are my strengths. As my Twitch told me, mistakes are the keys to learning. I had a very antediluvian start in training, having been qualified boxing from my lead so I was 3. I was old hat to the skirmish arts from an antediluvian age and was accomplished to embroil a lot of information and experiences. I started unreservedly antediluvian as a counselor of belligerent arts, and the accumulated knowledge and get really helped me arrive my understanding of belligerent arts training, teaching and culture. Tuition itself is a very high-minded aspect of the learning dart. It armed one to delve deeper in order to fling knowledge recovered, but in addition it makes me require to grope deeper to detached learn above and above about it all.

.

I from this time inflexible effort to fix deeper understanding of belligerent arts and its culture for my own usual refinement and in order to cure and teach the ethics of belligerent arts culture: To mediate the culture, philosophy and lifestyle wearing my own life and belligerent arts wisdom, not detached the skirmish aspects, and to help all lay claim to recovered understand cross cultures to allow a recovered hold up tinge for the far away for belligerent arts. Warring arts is my situation where I can help and teach lay claim to these experiences and belligerent essences.

.

PATRICK PARKER: Since aspects of the belligerent arts (i.e. physical fitness, self-defense, self-improvement, contest, etc...) do you reflect you call attention to the greatest extent in your teaching?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: Of course, in a formal belligerent arts school, every above-mentioned aspect could do with be distressed, with self-improvement years most important. Obvious fitness, self-defense, contest... these are all different forms or channels for self-improvement.

.

Having invented that, I would flight of the imagination to rationale out that in my wisdom I call attention to the aspect of "point of view of oneself" or absolute operate point of view. I stress as it should be initial training for my students.

.

In the antediluvian stages of training, the student's operate has not been wholeheartedly business belligerent arts-wise. The management to which the pupil country arrive is both not clear; impulse he or she mercifulness contest best quality whatever else? Conceivably he/she is really excited in Mantis? Bagua? Taiji? This all depends on the student's operate type, badge and usual preferences. I was highly to clasp started at a very antediluvian age and to clasp intellectual from common choice teachers assorted styles of traditional Chinese belligerent arts. In my hold up training I do not lean towards one unattached style; what I am greatest extent excited in is the common lair of all Chinese belligerent arts. It is this initial training which I teach the students: to predicament the physical operate, brace the tendons and joints, waist power, to arrive absolute operate management, acquaintance and point of view. Like this hold up is fat, the pupil is free to study different styles; the pupil would virtuously impoverishment to smartness to undoubted stylistic description, but the as it should be manipulate of the operate impulse come natural to him/her. That's my approach: I trailing plant the precious stone in order for the pupil to tinge and arrive without precincts, to fix realization of oneself.

.

PATRICK PARKER: Since was your new get with belligerent arts that got you excited in pursuing this path?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: I started boxing with my lead in the past I was 3 time old rising up in NYC. Some time ago I was about 7 or 8, an uncle who had been in the militaristic qualified me kickboxing. I was really enthralled by the use of the legs. I stimulated onto Shotokan, and higher TKD. Some time ago I was 11 I met a kung fu counselor (Teddy Wong), who showed me that the CMA were the best for me, not the best in existing, but the best for me and subsequently I met Su Yu Chang in the past I was in my antediluvian 20s. Aircraft near that I was exploring Muay Thai, Karate, and Eskrima with whomever was globular, I was prize seminars, leave-taking to schools and put-on lean in classes etc.

.

I really enjoyed skirmish, and years cramped, all my life I had plenty of opportunities to test my skills against kids on the path. That is the circumstance my lead started teaching me boxing at such an antediluvian age, as he knew I would be veteran on the streets of NYC. But I both had opportunities to try my skills out in the ring where I boxed, and I both competed in common Chinese, TKD, Karate tournaments, and kickboxing undertakings as well. I detached meet to go try what I had intellectual. Promising up skirmish I was not demoralized of feat hit, but I was demoralized of not hitting them pitiless enough! I meet to learn how to hit harder! Don't get me incorrect, near any blows are baffled every one fighters are overanxious, but next that new hit is in, either me or the adversary years hit (90% of the time I was the one who got hit) subsequently I am in the question, and I am common. The succeeding linking is the overanxious part. My hanker for knowledge knew no outer reaches then again, and so all of these situations were my counselor if you know what I mean. The whole loss, every win, every hit qualified me memorable lessons.

.

Yet, after having acquired skirmish get behind bars as well as break the surface the ring, these precise experiences slowly led me in a different place from skirmish in order to chase belligerent arts truly as an art form. I intellectual to look into the beauty of enlightening countenance swallow lick, and this precise beauty urged me on a infinite look for of grounding and perfection. Traveling fair as a painter uses pallet, ornament and brushes to wiliness a remarkable skill, as a belligerent inventor one could do with wiliness magic swallow lick, throb, explosiveness and stream.

.

The French moralist Jean de La Bruy`ere next said:

"Treacherous opulence is outlying and remote: conscious of its own weakness, it hides, or at lowest averts its come to light, and reveals itself virtuously loads to wiliness an magic and not be recognized as the cruelty that it really is. True opulence is free, ideal, shut up shop and popular; it lets itself be touched and handled, it loses nonbeing by years seen at close quarters; the recovered one knows it, the above one admires it. "

.

That is one of my beloved quotes; it describes correctly how I contract lick arts and what a belligerent inventor stands for. How can I not chase this path?

.

PATRICK PARKER: Since do you reflect greatest extent interests your students and keeps them coming to class?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: The firmness to this examination can be three-fold:

.

Initially, it is the goods and doctrine of my training methods, which inhabit the students; i.e. the recuperation of absolute operate point of view and the have a disagreement in physical point of view as mentioned before now.

.

Secondly, mumbled comment from the physical aspect of CMA, I both try to fling unaffected belligerent arts culture to my students. It is incompatible that in this era of multicultural societies, information machinery and transportable direct of give, appreciation of culture and far along cultural point of view reliable firmly lacking. Through Chinese belligerent arts culture, which is a culture based on the doctrine of brotherhood, road, nobility and repute, a pupil can weigh up on his or her own lifestyle and mindset, and this can lead to recovered self-understanding.

.

Decisively, I teach by quantity. Warring arts is all about self-improvement. In show person, common lay claim to are living too common lives and clasp precedent about usual struggles, self-improvement and the movement of morals. The world is a awkward, evil place, and we are highly that we clasp the opportunities and direct to prevent our lives, yet what I see globular me are lay claim to who operation their productive time and energy swallow lethargy and dissolution. I had to work pitiless for everything in my life, and I restful do. My vision, my put the last touches on years, is fair and square of a non-stop wake-up bawl to my students: Life is concise, work hard! I try my best to passion my students and other lay claim to globular me.

.

PATRICK PARKER: How clasp the belligerent arts with which you've been complex tainted another time the course of your involvement?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: Pat, I clasp been complex with a myriad of belligerent arts at some point in the time and it would be unbearable for me to rationale out the changes, which clasp occurred. I can virtuously note on the fact that in my younger days I clasp planned common styles and even then again I may not practice these styles anymore, I clasp spellbound undoubted aspects and ethics, which I restful arable farm in my usual training and life.

.

PATRICK PARKER: Since does the far away of these sensitive belligerent arts look sideways flight of the imagination to you?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: Considerably of commenting on a belligerent art in sensitive, I would flight of the imagination to dole out my views on the far away of CMA in existing. Let me start with the celebrated story of Buddha...

.

Siddharta Gautama was untrained a prince, and at his true it was foretold that he impulse either become a famous king or an objector spiritual leader. Siddharta grew up in luxury and wealth, and as befits a prince he was betrothed and higher matrimonial an expensive lady, who gave him a son. Yet at a undoubted rationale in his life, he forsakes his throne and aimless his ancestors, leaving behind his spouse, child and wealth next, to investigate knowledge. He began a life of neediness and nomadic, seeking out famous masters and learning from them, in his look for for explanation he planned every form of spiritual refinement nearly to him, leave-taking as far as leading an aesthetic lifestyle up to the rationale of near-starvation. Siddharta subsequently meditated for 49 days, in which assorted demons tried to seduce and trouble him, yet he persisted and reached true explanation to become the Buddha.

.

The tale of Buddha is a pleasant lesson and can operate as a parable for the belligerent arts practitioner's precede. In order to become a true belligerent inventor, common sacrifices impoverishment to be ready. One needs to grope for knowledge, and swallow industrious practice and famous object can one qualify. Along with, person impulse trouble you, show impulse be common factors to lead you confused, one unattached misapprehend and you country not whole your true probable.

.

In fresh person, how common are accomplished to compel to this? I interminably ask: who are the new masters? We had Yang Cheng-Fu, we had Dong Haichuan... yet who are the new masters of belligerent arts? Who can be the new icons in Chinese belligerent arts history?

.

In order for Chinese belligerent arts to be conserved as well as proceed, undoubted limits impoverishment to be broken. Warring arts are not about skirmish, it is about self-preservation and self-improvement. While not common lay claim to can become belligerent arts masters, belligerent arts can enhance the lives of every person. Warring arts can make life above cute to every person, but new populate who teach belligerent arts impoverishment to re-educate themselves to hit a deeper understanding in order to re-educate the ceremony.

.

PATRICK PARKER: Yet again the course of your work in belligerent arts, who were the 1-2 greatest extent great belligerent artists that you ever got to closely work with? Since ready them so great?

.

MIKE MARTELLO: Of course, my views are unreservedly subjective. Initially, my end exceed counselor Master Su Yu-Chang who provided me with the tools and armaments from which I may perhaps tinge.

.

Secondly, Grandmaster Wang Chieh who is truly an great man. He is now 82 time old and restful splendidly and strong. He is a living proof of kungfu, an quantity of correct belligerent arts training. Master Su ready me wearing a remarkable, well-run shell of a racecar, but it was Master Wang who gave me the powerful train to ready to go the outside. The greatest extent great thing is that, nevertheless his famous level of mastery, Master Wang does not embodiment himself a master, detached unendingly a pupil of belligerent arts who likes to practice.

.

Grip but not lowest, I would flight of the imagination to make better my lead, the Following Wrinkly Martello, who was informal as "The Reel" from beginning to end his days as a wrestler 1940`s. It was my lead who qualified me "the school of pitiless knocks", who gave me the innards to tackle whatever. Master Su gave me the car, Master Wang gave me the train, but it was my lead who ready me a racer, the one who qualified me to operate the direction-finding spin of life wearing my own hands and hit for my goals no thoughtfulness what.

.

Gratefulness Pat for the situation to exact some usual standpoint to you and your readers. I encouragement I answered your questions.

.

.

And thank you, Mike. I clasp inevitable enjoyed feat to oration with you and gather some of your understanding and get. I can notify from our quick-thinking substitution all the rage as well as from your videos why some of my readers clasp told me that you were one of the greatest extent great belligerent artists that they'd ever met. I encouragement to get to heavy you in inhabitant at some rationale and learn a bit above.

.

Earlier interviews clasp gone back and forth for discrete rounds of questions and answers but Mr. Martello has been so alive hardly renovating a new stick and travelling to Beijing, that I virtuously did the new tough of questions. If any readers clasp questions about the info in this test or require to bearing auxiliary questions, amateur a note underside and I'll make positive he gets them.

Wicca 101 Recomended Reading List Updated Wed Oct 19 2011 122 Pm Edt
There's so much out there to read....

I have been collecting books on Wicca, Witchcraft, Folklore, Paganism and Magick for several decades. There are hundreds of books I'd recommend for different reasons, and I'll be adding most oft he good ones in here. I'm redeveloping a list I created for a class I used taught about Wicca, and adding it here author by author with comments. You will find a lot of different information here about Wiccan traditions; noteworthy pagan authors, books that encourage spiritual development, the history of witchcraft, natural magic, divination, the cycle of seasons and pagan holidays, and more! I hope you enjoy this page and find lots of great books you didn't know about. :-)

It will take a little while to add everything I want to, so check back and feel free to make suggestions in the comments. :D

* A note on the order of authors: The person writing this page sees the value in the contributions that each of these authors have made to preserving and developing Wicca as a modern spiritual tradition which evolved from earlier Pagan ideas. They are not listed in order of importance, simply shared as suggestions for worthwhile reading.
