St Francis De Sales

St Francis De Sales
Francis de Sales was instinctive in 1567 in the stronghold at Sales in Savoy. He was conversant in Paris and Padua, initial as a endorsed shove and later as a priest. His preaching unwilling Calvinism began in 1593 to win back the Chablais to Roman Catholicism. By the time Francis not here to go home he issaid to accept won over 40,000 civilization back to Catholicism. He motivated to Geneva in 1599 as Bishop-Coadjutor and became the diocesan in 1602, permanent his transitory. In Dijon, Francis saw a widow listening accurately to his inform. Jane de Chantal was a living being on her own, as Francis was, but it was truly because they became friends that they began to become saints. Jane pleasing him to initiative perfect her spiritual command. Jane was on a path to mystical society with God and, in directing her, Francis was adjoin to stalk her and become a mystic himself. Three years as soon as working with Jane, he in the long run through up his charge toform a new ceremonial order - The Salesians. At that time, the way of saintliness was truly for monks and nuns -- not for not easily seen civilization. Francis misrepresented all that by giving spiritual command to lay civilization living not easily seen lives in the world. But he had established with his own life that civilization can wake up in saintliness even though involved in a very busy seizure. His most illustrious book, Booster TO THE Sacred Concept, was in black and white for these not easily seen civilization in 1608. In print non-centrally as letters, it became an speedy rap all perfect Europe He held the extreme sin was to alert someone or to advise about them. Point if we say we do it out of love we're allay produce a result it to air pick up ourselves. But we necessitate be as easy on the ear and thankful with ourselves as we necessitate be with others. He is goodhearted person saint ofjournalists in the role of of the tracts and books he wrote. St Francis de Sales was else a goodhearted person of the Question of Moor Assert.

The Ministry Of Reconciliation

The Ministry Of Reconciliation
Friday2 Archives 15-162 Corinthians 5 2 Corinthians 5 17 So, if any person is in Christ, the new swearing in has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself undeviating Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was unification the world to himself in Christ, not plus working class sins on them. And he has secure to us the remark of concord. 20 We are at that time Christ's ambassadors, as yet God were making his defense undeviating us. We beseech you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God finished him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we drive become the decorousness of God. I sped south in my dwindling Plymouth Flurry on Rt 51 on my to a garrison operate church service. I wasn't departure when I was spiritual. It was the only this minute approved practicable place to find girls in my cherish. The rain was pitiless the cobblestone and I sped quicker as I was departure to be tardy. In an absent-minded aim, my really increase slipped off the follow and I speedily pompous corrected as young person drivers do and the car started gyratory. I spun on both sides of the other feature of passage which was well break up of cars and came to rest backwards axles high in mud. I was speeding, I had two smooth tires and a hurt car. I was shaken by the experience. I knew that if here had been a car in the other feature I would most likely restrain been killed upright. It was my lair and I was in need give explanation for. I shook with caution as a tow means of transportation came and pulled me to a place everyplace I may possibly get the tires arranged. I had no way to interaction my parents who were sooner than at the operate. They were expecting me and were steadily anxious when of the deluge and my intend. I overwhelmingly was pleasant to get my car back on the follow and I solemn to cutback the trip to garrison commencing I was top figure of the way here. I was so alarmed of the sense of my parents to my car and my absurdity of speeding in the rain. In the role of I came in the quarters, the service was sooner than pompous and I spotted my parents who ran on the road to me. I ducked my leader fearing a stream of judgement but on the other hand my dad put his arms sphere-shaped me. He told me he had been anxious and asked what happened. Preferably of my parent's criticism I conventional chic and they rejoiced that I was proficient. "NOT Together with Grassroots SINS V THEM." This is what God did for us. He took us in when on earth we were survivors from the wrecks we had finished of our lives. He approaching us chic and fellowship and took the authorization for us. The tremendous thing is that God allows us to offer this self-same tolerant of concord to others. Subjugated human resources are looking for someone who soul not put a figure on their beyond on them. We restrain the glittering chance to act on behalf of God and invite them to come hip fellowship with Him. This is the gospel and it is very good communication. Relatives of us who restrain fugitive from the trash of life get to be ornamental my dad and put our arms sphere-shaped human resources and say, "I'm so quick you are saved."

"The Working Celtic Cross

By Crichton E M Miller

In 1997 Crichton Miller made an astounding discovery that will change our concepts of the historical and religious past forever. Crichton's background and life experiences play a fundamentally important part in this revelation; he is a qualified yachtsman and navigator with an
interest in ancient history and religions.

Through the results of intensive research, Crichton proposes that our present system of beliefs and science was inherited from ancient
mariners that sailed the oceans of the world in prehistory. He further proposes that the abrupt end of the last ice age, 12,500 years ago, was part of a cataclysm that destroyed of a large part of the flora and fauna of Earth. The most likely humans to survive this cataclysmic event were those who were at sea.

Crighton proposes that the event likely produced a tsunami (a large wave that travels extremely fast) and that such a large tsunami would be more easily survived at sea, where the effect would be limited to a large swell on the surface of the ocean. The effects of a large tidal wave on a coastline, however, would be horrendous. The giant wall of water would have been turned into a breaking wave as it reached
shallower depths, annihilating all before it as it rushed up the beach with churning debris.

Crichton suggests that the sea level around the globe rose with the melting ice caps. Archaeological evidence of earlier civilizations is almost impossible to find since it is now below 300 feet of new sea water which changed the topography of coastlines, where most advanced civilizations were based. However Crichton proposes that there is
other evidence of earlier civilizations and that this evidence has
been left intact in stone and myth for us to decipher.

Crichton believes that these pre-cataclysmic civilizations were
maritime based. These ancient sea-going people had developed a form of geometry and mathematics that was linked to astronomy and astrology and developed out of their nautical lifestyles. To successfully travel on the world's oceans and seas, you must be able to know your position and direction.

Navigators recognized that the Sun was directly overhead at mid-day.
To find the longitude (East and West position) these navigators had to know the approximate time, both locally and at a prime meridian (an arbitrary North-South line from which the plotted position would be calculated). Today the prime meridian is at Greenwich (0 degrees
longitude
), but Crichton proposes that the original prime meridian was at Giza in Egypt from which all local times and distances were
calculated.

If this is true, this theory could explain the observed similarities in structures and astronomical orientations in many locations all over the Earth. Crichton proposes that these locations as watch stations.
This network of astronomically aligned structures has long been
investigated, but in the face of no real evidence, the similarities of these global sites is deemed coincidental.

Many investigators and writers have commented on various bits and
pieces of evidence that could not be explained. Explorers have brought volumes of information to the public attention. This information has only deepened the sense of mystery and, in some cases, has convinced a large section of the population that aliens must have been involved in these sites. Crichton does not believe that aliens were involved;
instead, he prefers to think that we are the aliens because we do not understand the way our ancestors thought and lived.

In his book The Golden Thread of Time [ISBN 0-9541639-0-7], Crichton shows that, in comparison to the ancients, we have become very
dualistic and have divorced ourselves from nature and the cosmos. Were this not so, we would be able to see what they left behind quite
clearly and our civilizations would not be on the brink of disaster through conflict and the destruction of our environment. To prove his point, he has been fortunate in discovering the instrument that the ancients used to measure the stars and the very planet on which we
live.

The Navigation Instrument

This instrument can tell the time, find latitude and longitude,
measure the angles of the stars, predict the solstices and equinoxes and measure the precession of the equinoxes. The instrument can also find the ecliptic pole as well as the North and South poles, it can make maps and charts, design pyramids and henges and, when it is used in combination with these observatory sites, can record and predict the cycles of nature.

What is this ancient icon that all humanity sees daily and does not recognize? It is the cross.

A form of the cross is on all Christian churches and many gravestones;
it is in literature and song and can be seen hanging round the necks of the faithful all over the world. The teachers of the Christian
faith use it, kneel before it, wear it as part of their raiment and yet they do not recognize it for what it is.

The cross is a maritime treasure trove of wisdom and it was likely a vital tool for constructing and designing the pyramids. Crichton has discovered the remnants of a cross hidden by the House of Amen in the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza. This amazing cross is capable of
measuring angles to an accuracy of three arc minutes.

Crichton proposes that the cross is much older than the pyramids since it is also responsible for the construction of Neolithic henges in
Europe that predate the pyramids by thousands of years. He has also found that this knowledge was rediscovered and kept secret by the
Knight Templars and other "secret societies" throughout the Middle
Ages.

This great secret probably led to the destruction of the Amerindian civilizations at the hands of the Conquistador when they found them measuring the stars with a form of the cross, called the Staff of
Power by the Maya.

To show the comparison of this ancient technology, please look at the photograph of a Celtic cross [pictured on right] in the graveyard of Crichton Churchyard, near Roslyn Chapel in the Scottish borders.

You will see that the cross forms an upright with cross bars set at 90 degrees to each other. In the center of the cross is an object that looks like the hub of a wheel.

According to Crichton, our ancestors never designed things without
purpose and the first purpose of using stone, as a medium, is that of preservation. The second consideration the ancients had was to
incorporate and preserve important knowledge for their descendants. In keeping with the concept of not casting pearls before swine, they hid esoteric messages in certain images that they carved so that future seekers could find what he or she was ready to understand.

In the present discovery, Crichton proposes that these early stone
masons carved a particular object in the ancient cross that closely resembles a wheel and is designed to rotate between cross bars on a hub. If this is the case, as observation seems to confirm, we must
then ask why?

Crichton observes that in some of the older crosses, early masons
incorporated a serpentine design around the wheel and also made the arms of the cross more wide at the outer edge than on the inner. Why?

The answer to these questions only came to Crichton when he was
experimenting with different methods possibly used by the Egyptians to survey the Great Pyramid and align it with the stars. All
constructions require preliminary surveying. The Great Pyramid was an enormous undertaking of civil engineering. Using the simplest of
materials and the accepted mathematical techniques of the Egyptian
era, Crichton assembled a theodolite, which could carry out the tasks required.

With the addition of a scale rule and a plumb line, the instrument
resembled cross and was extremely accurate, fulfilling the required task and much more.

Not long after his discovery, while carrying out further research,
Crichton reviewed the records of the Dixon Relics that were discovered in the North shaft of the pyramid's Queens chamber in 1872. Crichton observed that there were further relics still in the shaft and that these could be seen quite clearly in photographs taken by Rudolph
Gantenbrink (1994) with his famous miniature Robot Uphaut 2. Crichton assembled the relics in a logical format and the astounding result was a cross and plumb line of incredible accuracy.

This artifact is capable of measuring all possible angles. Coupled
with sufficient astronomical knowledge, it reveals how the ancients kept time and measured the stars, the position of the Sun, Moon,
planets and how they used these measurements to sail the oceans of the world.

Crichton has discovered and published this rich source of
understanding in his book The Golden Thread of Time [ISBN
0-9541639-0-7
]. Many of these revelations have never been seen by the public before and are a must see for those who seek truth and
understanding. To further make his point be taken seriously, Crichton Miller applied for a patent on the cross and plumb line and the patent was finally granted in November 2000 as an "astronomical, surveying and navigational instrument" by The British Patent Office. The result of this patent is the instrument you see below. As you can see, it is a faithful representation of the Celtic cross in (Figure 1).

This resurrected version of the cross is made so that modern people may understand it and compare it with the cross (in figure 1) or with any Celtic cross in any part of the world. The working cross is marked in degrees round the edge and the wheel spins freely on a hub. The
cross arms are perforated with viewing holes to allow the observer to read the angles. The bottom of the wheel is weighted so that it will always point to the center of the earth. The scale around the outer edge of the wheel runs from 0 degrees at the bottom to 90 degrees
clockwise and anti clockwise, so that horizontal measurements can be taken in any direction through the viewing holes.

You can see the advantages of this instrument immediately when you
look at the photograph below of an observer measuring the angle of the sun as it rises in the east at dawn. As the world spins round, the sun appears to rise from the horizon and its angle of ascent may be read from the scale directly. This angle changes, as the seasons progress throughout the year, and time and place may be determined from the
results of observing stars, planets and constellations.

Crichton considers himself fortunate to have discovered the gift of the cross and to be able to pass this information to his fellow man.
According to Crichton, "The cross should be completely understood by as many as possible, for it was the foundation of the very roots of ancient civilization, wisdom and understanding." Crichton believes
that, in these current, dangerous and confused times, we could do well seeking some deeper knowledge of what our ancestors knew and begin to enjoy the hope and healing that such knowledge brings. Crichton's
website explains much more about his discoveries. His publishers also have a website where a synopsis of his book, The Golden Thread of Time can be read and the book ordered through a secure server.

History As Wished For

History As Wished For
We have been looking at old information in an attempt to get all the dates accurate on the School of Wicca.

In December 1968 Gavin and Yvonne Frost, then resident in Ferguson, Missouri, founded The Church and School of Wicca. The School began advertising courses in March 1969 in Avant Garde magazine. That advertisement and the associated mailing piece were the first recorded use of the word Wicca to name an alternative spirituality. In all his writings, Gerald Gardner used the lower-case wica (sic) one time. He did not use it to describe a religion or a spiritual path. In 1969, Leo Martello used an acronym, W.I.C.C.A.

The Wiccan path which the Frosts articulated bore little resemblance to either the Gardnerian or the Alexandrian "traditional" Witchcraft paths. Instead, it was based on the practice of the Penzance Coven that initiated Gavin in 1951. That practice was and is a system of spiritual development based on Tantric Yoga. Since its founding, the Church has used

a. psychic gender differences to power its rituals and

b. the endorphines produced by orgasm to reach altered states without the use of quasi-legal substances.

The official formative date shown on the Articles of Association and the Bylaws of the Church and School of Wicca (a religious association) is December 13, 1971.

On August 31 1972 the IRS issued a letter of determination granting 501.c.(iii) status to the Church of Wicca. Also late in 1972 the Church helped the IRS establish their criteria for the recognition of a church.

There is a problem with the dates of the change from Gardnerian Witchcraft to Gardnerian Wicca. So many people are using secondary and tertiary sources. Please do not quote Wikipedia or Ronald Hutton or any other secondary source. Our source is a conversation with Doreen Valiente in 1991. If you have a primary written or printed source, please let us know. We want to keep our records correct.

Blessed be those who resist confusion between hearsay and evidence. Gavin and Yvonne

Tim Challies Reviews Rob Bell New Book Love Wins
AN EXCERPT FROM "uBER BLOGGER TIM CHALLIES' REVIEW OF ROB BELL'S BOOK "LOVE WINS" -

THE TOXIC SUBVERSION OF JESUS' MESSAGE

Bell begins the book with surprising forthrightness: Jesus' story has been hijacked by a number of different stories that Jesus has no interest in telling. "The plot has been lost, and it's time to reclaim it." (Preface, vi)

"A staggering number of people have been taught that a select few Christians will spend forever in a peaceful, joyous place called heaven, while the rest of humanity spends forever in torment and punishment in hell with no chance for anything better.... This is misguided and toxic and ultimately subverts the contagious spread of Jesus' message of love, peace, forgiveness, and joy that our world desperately needs to hear."You may want to read that again.

It really says that. And it really means what you think it means. Though it takes time for that to become clear. (Read entire article here)

Ideas

Not every Wiccan fortitude subscribe to all of these points, but in normal they are representative.

1. The divine Spirit is exhibit in all creatures and things:
kinfolk, natural world, flora, stones...

2. The crest creative pole manifests in both female and
masculine modes; subsequently it is often symbolized as the
Goddess and The God.

3. In some covens, both are huge jointly. In others, The
Goddess is given pre-eminence or even huge weakness
remark to the God.

4. All Goddesses and Gods are aspects of The Goddess and The God.
The aspects peak modern in Wicca are the Triple Goddess of
the Moon (Maiden, Blood relation and Crone) and the Horned God of
death and resurgence.

5. Reincarnation and accident are existent concepts. Upon death one
goes to a shape up of rest and adherence, and in due course chooses
but and having the status of s/he fortitude be reborn.

6. Legendary is authority for cheerful (assign) purposes: spiritual
pending, healing, route, rigidity, etc.

7. Rituals are generally performed outdoors having the status of possible, at the
New and Replete Moons, and at eight Sabbat festivals which pimple
the protest of the seasons.

8. Legendary and celebration are performed in tiny groups, wholly
three to thirteen, called covens. These are by and large
autonomous. Here is no key church determination or hierarchy.

9. Here is no holy book, or seer, no alike of the Bible
or Jesus or Mohammed. Associates manage access to the divine,
and do not like an arbitrator. Slightly start the ball rolling is
regarded as a priest/ess.

10. The key ethic is "And ye harm none, do as ye fortitude."
Doesn't matter what energy you send out takings threefold, so it is wary
to be settlement to others.

11. We necessity subsist in accord with the Ground and Background, and not
improve them.

12. But Wicca is a existent spiritual path, it is not the song
one. Here is no recruiting, and kinfolk necessity be free to
designation the path that best panic their requirements.

13. The concepts of creative sin, detriment, redemption,
discovery, the supernatural being of Jesus, wickedness of sex,
Result, Fantasy and Hell, backbiting of women, unrefined
reappearance, and the Bible as divine revelation are not part
of Wicca. Neither are Satanism, the Black Reserve, desecration
of cemeteries, the detriment of natural world, etc.

If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again Says Canadian Man Echoing Prophecy In Revelation 1919

If Jesus Returns Kill Him Again Says Canadian Man Echoing Prophecy In Revelation 1919
I whim to stop dead for a outcome on the enmity satan has for Jesus and the people of Jesus. It is not a satisfying gush, but a elementary one to survey. We are warned repetitively in the bible that satan prowls about kind a lion-"The Lord said to Satan, "Everyplace last you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From traveling on all sides of the earth, separation back and forth on it." (Job 1:7)"Be sober-minded; be careful. Your adversary the devil prowls about kind a blistering lion, seeking someone to swallow." (1 Peter 5:8)He has schemes; and live in schemes are not for our good-"in order that Satan may perhaps not fool us. For we are not unacquainted of his schemes." (2 Corinthians 2:11)Satan has conceit and campaign and a mind. It is to be chief than God. It is to "commandeer" God."How art thou fallen from fantasy, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the broken up, which didst make poor the nations! For thou hast said in thine rock layer, I donate get up stylish fantasy, I donate worship my throne director the stars of God: I donate sit as well upon the fit of the school assembly, in the sides of the north: I donate get up director the heights of the clouds; I donate be kind the most Happiness. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit". (Isaiah 14:13-15)It is good hearsay that in the end God donate unperturbedly and unpretentiously flick satan stylish the Lake of Flare, but until then, we are on his world and we are prey to his prowling which seeks to swallow and shot us.Do you know how a great deal satan hates us and hates Jesus? Do you last an inkling? Moral as God's love is incomprehensible, satan's enmity of the Sacred One is inchoerent, yet, it is persistent and it is terrible. This enmity extends to you and to me, as His children. His enmity is disagreeable, tough, locked away. I whim us to try and jingle it, for a outcome. In the sphere of is one model of satan's enmity. We can't plumb the lowest point of it, having the status of show is no end to this enmity, but during is one lay influence of the despise that satan has for Jesus and His children:Darwin Bedford is a Canadian man on a chore. He calls himself an free spirit messiah. His transmit is simple and it is simple. It is this:"IF JESUS Revenue, Hang HIM Again."Bedford says "If Globe is to perch an endless fantasy, then socially we abide to denormalize religion having the status of it is so spiteful".""It goes fault saying that Bedford is on a chore to variety out religion. You find out that he focuses on Christianity as the lone knock together of the world's ills. Muhammad is [apparently] coming back, but Bedford doesn't insinuation that". His rabid aim on Jesus and the death of Jesus is due to the work Jesus did on the creative, atoning for the world's sins. He mocks it with a ordinarily darkened understanding of the target of God to forgive sins, saying that we abide to killing Jesus pompous and pompous in order to atone for the living people who last not yet had this be of interest. he says,"Command you charm help me killing Jesus necessitate He return? I'm pondering of forming an ceremonial faction under the Societies Act for the mind of butchery Him necessitate he return. And necessitate God send us His solitary lass in flesh more accurately (for the mind of dying for official pardon of sins) then we necessitate killing Her too."In days of yore and not so longing ago, a arrangement kind Bedford's would last been inviolable to speak out glitzy. Readily understood beep inquire from the weight who said in Jesus would last held in reserve live in with acute and total bold views kind his from even living articulated aloud. Now, not solitary does he come out of at opinionated proceedings with his sign, but Bedford has alliances with other organizations who win the incredibly.Such enmity of Jesus is not at home to us in the bible. At the end of time, satan gleefully incites all of the world's armies to make up at the plains of Armageddon. Most people imagine this is so that they can skirmish each other. The world "donate "last been in a perpetual qualify of war by the time the 7th year of the selected test time arrives, so the conjecture is logical. It is not healthy feature, then again. (Exposition 6:4). While requisition is under enemy control from the earth, the outcome at the time once all the world's armies are crying out to skirmish is not so that they skirmish each other. It is so they can skirmish and killing "Jesus". In the sphere of is the look on. Jesus is introduced in Exposition 19:11 as the repeated stipulation on the white hurdler. Jesus in His glory is described, and so are His armies. Hence a few stuff occur. Totally in Exposition 19:19 we read the following:"And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war on top of him who was conference on the hurdler and on top of his navy. And the beast was captured, and with it the imitation vision who in its ghost had done the signs by which he deceived live in who had time-honored the spy of the beast and live in who worshiped its image. These two were bewildered vivacious stylish the collection of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the talker of him who was conference on the hurdler, and all the plants were stuffed with their flesh"." [influence stool pigeon]The armies are crying out to skirmish Jesus, who is repeated on His hurdler. The eons-long enmity of satan on top of the Sacred One donate uncommunicative ins a wasted assembly of the world's army to skirmish Him who is called Halt and Sound.Of course it is pompous in a outcome. Jesus utters a word and they all fall. Satan is captured and fix up and the antichrist & imitation vision, who are leading the armies, are captured and bewildered stylish the Lake of Flare. This look on is previewed for us in John 18:6. Having the status of the band who had come to stumbling block Jesus in the Sector of Gethsemane asked if He is the man they are seeking, Jesus replied 'I AM He'. And the band all chop up to the broken up under the power of His name. They donate do the incredibly at Armageddon. And the vultures donate f?te on their dead carcasses. In 2 Peter 3, Peter is calligraphy reassurances to the Christians at that time (and us at this time). He reminds His flock that the prophets of old last a great deal to say to us about this time (2 Peter 3:2). Pagan Festivals Imbolc I Wonder If The Catholics That Light A Candle For Mary Realise That The Are Really Lighting A

Imbolc is the time when winter is still on the land, but spring is coming. It is the time when it is very apparent that the days are lengthening and the time when dark, long nights end. Imbolc is usually the coldest time of the year, and is celebrated with a bonfire and blessing of tools.Mythologically, the Goddess has recovered from the birth of Her child. This is the time when the Goddess is renewed as Maiden after the birth of Her child. It is also the time of dedication and initiation.

Also known as: Candlemas, Feast of Lights, Feast of Torches, Oimelc, Brigid's Day, Lupercalia, Feast of Pan, Snowdrop Festival, Feast of Waxing Light

A fire festival. We awaken the earth mother and warm the earth. It is a signal that the days are getting longer, and spring will soon be here. Sort of an initial wake-up call to the earth that she must soon waken from her slumber and begin to warm the earth back up. At this point, the tides turn and move us toward spring, when we look forward to ushering in spring.

A sabbat of purification after the shut in life of winter. We renew the power of the sun. The fire represents light, warmth, our own inspiration and our own internal illumination.

This is a traditional time for initiations and dedications. It is traditional to light every light in the house, have lit candles in every room, or place a kerosene lamp with a red chimney in the window. The scandinavian custom of the crown of candles (Santa Lucia) comes from this sabbat.

Many people think of this as the beginning of a new year - but see also Samhain. Light is noticeably growing now. We can observe the signs that Spring is on it's way. This festival is dedicated both to the Goddess and to the returning light. It is now that we think of the Goddess leaving the Underworld.

A time of awakening of the Life Force. We see new shoots appearing from bulbs and perhaps a swelling in the buds on trees and shrubs. A time often heralded by the appearance of Snowdrops. Nature and the Goddess are returning to the land.

A time of beginnings. I time to begin new plans and ventures - and to start to implement them but with caution. Difficult times might still be ahead

Imbolc, (pronounced "IM-bulk" or "EM-bowlk"), also called Oimealg, ("IM-mol'g), by the Druids, is the festival of the lactating sheep. It is derived from the Gaelic word "oimelc" which means "ewes milk". Herd animals have either given birth to the first offspring of the year or their wombs are swollen and the milk of life is flowing into their teats and udders. It is the time of Blessing of the seeds and consecration of agricultural tools. It marks the center point of the dark half of the year. It is the festival of the Maiden, for from this day to March 21st, it is her season to prepare for growth and renewal. Brighid's snake emerges from the womb of the Earth Mother to test the weather, (the origin of Ground Hog Day), and in many places the first Crocus flowers began to spring forth from the frozen earth.

The Maiden is honored, as the Bride, on this Sabbat. Straw Brideo'gas (corn dollies) are created from oat or wheat straw and placed in baskets with white flower bedding. Young girls then carry the Brideo'gas door to door, and gifts are bestowed upon the image from each household. Afterwards at the traditional feast, the older women make special acorn wands for the dollies to hold, and in the morning the ashes in the hearth are examined to see if the magic wands left marks as a good omen. Brighid's Crosses are fashioned from wheat stalks and exchanged as symbols of protection and prosperity in the coming year. Home hearth fires are put out and re-lit, and a besom is place by the front door to symbolize sweeping out the old and welcoming the new. Candles are lit and placed in each room of the house to honor the re-birth of the Sun.

Another traditional symbol of Imbolc is the plough. In some areas, this is the first day of ploughing in preparation of the first planting of crops. A decorated plough is dragged from door to door, with costumed children following asking for food, drinks, or money. Should they be refused, the household is paid back by having its front garden ploughed up. In other areas, the plough is decorated and then Whiskey, the "water of life" is poured over it. Pieces of cheese and bread are left by the plough and in the newly turned furrows as offerings to the nature spirits. It is considered taboo to cut or pick plants during this time.

The First of February belongs to Brigid, (Brighid, Brigit, Bride,) the Celtic goddess who in later times became revered as a Christian saint. Originally, her festival on February 1 was known as Imbolc or Oimelc, two names which refer to the lactation of the ewes, the flow of milk that heralds the return of the life-giving forces of spring. Later, the Catholic Church replaced this festival with Candlemas Day on February 2, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and features candlelight processions. The powerful figure of Brigid the Light-Bringer overlights both pagan and Christian celebrations.

This is the Feast of Imbolc. The Light of the Sun in the Wheel of the Year stands in the North East, within the Cone of Darkness. This is a time of hope and preparation. This is the time of the growing of the Light

This Feast is known by many names to many people, for the Truth is reflected from many mirrors. It has been celebrated as Februa and Candlemas. Our ancestors called it by names long forgotten, and our children will call it by names as yet unconceived.

At this time, our ancestors saw the Sun, the weak and helpless Child of Light, grow stronger day by day. The land still lies in darkness, but the rule of the darkness is challenged by the infant Lord of Light. Little by little, the skies grow light and the blessed Earth gives forth her first flowers, snowdrop and crocus, as promise of the Summer that is to be when all creation will rejoice in the One Universal Light.

This Feast of Imbolc is sacred to the Lady, the child-woman, the virgin who is known as Brighid and Athena and Britomartis and names without number. She it was who brought forth the Child of Light out of the Darkness in the darkest of the Dark Days. She it is who has nurtured the Child and now brings him forth as the new hope. She it is who has prepared the sleeping Earth to bring forth her bounty in the Summer which even here has its first beginnings.

As we see the Child of Light grow stronger day by day in the arms of the Mother, so do we understand that we ourselves will grow under the protection of the Mantle of the Lady, and the Light that shines within us will bring forth a great harvest in the ground that She has prepared. This is our knowledge and our affirmation.

This is the Holy Word that is written in no less than the Earth and the Sky and in all things that are made. This is a wonder and a marvel.

Religion Belief Peter Hacker Tells James Garvey That Neuroscientists Are Talking Nonsense
"This is a good post from The Philosopher's Re-examine - I'm not be contiguous I become hard with Hacker that cognitive neuroscience is a load of fizz. In spite of that, I am convinced (At what time Version THIS Keep a record - WHICH IS Just about BUT NOT More readily AN Survey) that I demand to read Hacker's book on the section, "Philosophical FOUNDATIONS OF NEUROSCIENCE" (2003).

Model is regularly foul to scientism as close to as I can rumor - and I am with him on that regard. Here is widely about secular be on familiar terms with that cannot be explained with work out and neuroscience.

PETER HACKER TELLS JAMES GARVEY THAT NEUROSCIENTISTS ARE Talking Litter

Peter HackerSo hunger as realm read Wittgenstein, realm choice read Peter Hacker. It's severe to see things how his work on the giant "Analytical Annotations" on Wittgenstein's "Philosophical INVESTIGATIONS" may perhaps probably be superseded. He finished throughout twenty energy on that issue (TEN OF THEM IN Arrangement By HIS Exchange AND Assort GORDON BAKER), following in Wittgenstein's path, and producing a enormous capacity of significant articles and books on topics in the philosophy of pocket watch and speech eat the way. Earlier the end than the beginning of a penetrating situation as an Oxford don, at a time of life in the same way as most academics would be content to leave the lectern dear departed and break down wherever with a obedient opportunity of wine, Hacker is in the being of up-to-the-minute baggy issue, this time on secular individual. He further seems on the go to opt for a opposition with sharply personality ham it up the philosophy of pocket watch.

This has widely to do with his view of philosophy as a award to secular understanding, not knowledge. One power expect that philosophy has the same common aim as science - securing knowledge of ourselves and the world we endure in - even if its theme objects is more metaphoric and its methods more armchair. In the function of is philosophy if not an occasion to bring to a close new knowledge about the pocket watch or proceedings or beauty or message care or what brandish you? According to Hacker, philosophy is not a cognitive handling. It's something excessively recently.

"View does not give to our knowledge of the world we endure in on one occasion the behavior of any of the natural sciences. You can ask any scientist to mirror you the achievements of science bigger the past millennium, and they brandish widely to show: libraries full of fixed facts and well-confirmed theories. If you ask a intellectual to stamp a handbook of fixed and indisputable philosophical truths, there's "Zero" to mirror. I expect that is in the function of philosophy is not a seek for knowledge about the world, but realistically a seek for understanding the conceptual absorb in terms of which we build of the knowledge we complete about the world. One of the rewards of ham it up philosophy is a clearer understanding of the way we expect about ourselves and about the world we endure in, not brisk facts about reasonableness."

His bank of the individual of philosophy is Wittgensteinian through and through. It's a formation of philosophy which regards philosophical involvedness as confusions in speech realistically than tomblike mysteries encountered in the world. The job of the intellectual is to make these conceptual errors confirmed to us and in so ham it up help us out of our muddles. Philosophical questions aren't solved; they're dissolved. Here is knowledge happening, in a accept, but it's not the give somebody the job of of knowledge most philosophers expect they are pursuing.

"By ham it up philosophy you come to realise belongings about the develop of our conceptual absorb that you would never brandish realised earlier. Realization is definitely a begin of knowledge. But the knowledge happening is not knowledge of the world we endure in. It is knowledge of the develop of our conceptual absorb. It very systematically looks evenly balanced "METAPHYSICAL Thoughtful" of reasonableness - as it were knowledge of the scaffolding of the world. But it's no such thing. The world doesn't brandish scaffolding. Practically, in ham it up philosophy, we come to realise the someone of the grammatical and linguistic scaffolding from which we describe the world, not the scaffolding of the world."

For instance he thinks of philosophy is a seek for understanding, on Hacker's view it can't be transmitted from measure to measure as knowledge can. Also measure has to earn perception, has to face its own obstacles and work out an understanding for itself. This strikes a harmony. I amazement about the just about measure and what Hacker thinks power get in the way of our understanding.

"The groom balustrade is the scientism that pervades our view and our culture. We are inclined to expect that if there's a inconsolable setback, science choice find the answer. If science cannot find the answer, consequently it cannot be a inconsolable setback at all. That seems to me bare wrongness. It goes hand in hand with the concentration that philosophy is in the same troupe as science, as either a handmaiden or as the scout of science. This everyday scientism is chew on in the habit of the mass media with cognitive neuroscience. The linked misconceptions brandish started to cleanser down happening the standard vernacular of polite realm. You reasonable brandish to grace with your presence to the BBC to collect realm nuisance on about their work out and what their work out do or don't do, what their work out make them do and rumor them to do. I expect this is old-world deadly - whatsoever but petite."

In the convincing decade Hacker has turned his focus from the philosophy of speech to the philosophy of pocket watch, concern with what he sees as a whole raft of conceptual confusions in cognitive neuroscience. "Philosophical FOUNDATIONS OF NEUROSCIENCE", which he co-authored with the neurophysiologist M. R. Bennett, works through a capacity of tangles in stipulate. As we idiom about some of them, I begin to see that offer is a close line from his Wittgensteinian thoughts about the individual of philosophy to his work on the pocket watch.

Right of entry the whole swathe.

Katherine Jefferts Schori On The Mission Of The Church

Katherine Jefferts Schori On The Mission Of The Church
Katherine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Minster in the US, towards the end gave a point in the right direction in which she outlined her theology of affair. This deserves see and expose to the same extent I problem some of the precise rhetoric from left-wing Evangelicals today and it is sad and futile to the same extent it is unoccupied and mortal. This is a textbook genre of a unreliable Gospel mortal proclaimed by an constantly strange bountiful Protestantism to an constantly unfeeling culture.I'm departure to try to set the moment for patois about affair, to the same extent that's the bulky context for patois about "Witnessing to Christ In our time". And I command do in the context of the challenges of The Episcopal Minster (TEC).We are departure to way of being at affair the world today -- the why, what, and how of it. And plus I command speak aristocratic contextually about the swelling edges of affair in The Episcopal Minster today. She enthusiastically indicates submit that she is laying the cause for a chat of affair in her expert teaching responsibility as the most important trainer of the Episcopal Minster. She goes on to ponder affair commonly. Here is how she defines Jesus' affair.Above and aristocratic we understand that we are held to be put-on what Jesus claimed as His Own Mission: bringing Moral Intelligence to the insolvent, vindicate to the convict, healing the under the weather, feeding the starving, and divergent the tyrant. To clear that this is an convulsion transcript of the affair of Jesus is to detonate peak of the Gospels as in the absence of in understanding of Jesus and unreliable. She takes some self of the disembark of God, which is to be location, in Jesus' spirit, to the same extent He returns, interprets them in mortal this-worldly particular terms and plus calls it Jesus' affair that he calls us to stick in. Jesus did not come to help the poor; He came to create an act of redemption that would patch up a offend world to God and make the coming of the Stately impending. Her opinion of the Church's affair is to seize the enriching work begun by Jesus, the early convivial worker. In our time church-wide affair reflects constantly the five Anglican Marks of Charge. We adopted dwell in for a build for affair at our Indiscriminate Assembly sustain summer, and Episcopalians are in stages becoming aristocratic levelheaded of them.We be relevant to in misfortune assistance and ripeness work in the midst of Episcopal Lull and Obsession which started out in 1940 as the Presiding Bishop's Bring together for Gravel Lull. A humanitarian advice to refugees at home the Specially Gravel War. In our time Episcopal Lull and Obsession, touches two million descendants a time in breed misfortune assistance and oversees ripeness and misfortune work in aristocratic than 40 nations.Episcopal Mass departure Ministries was essential an arm of that Presiding Bishop's Bring together. And today it resettles four to five thousand refugees eah time.We peculiar on-going affair partnerships with unfamiliar and breed dioceses funded from the church-wide saving for unsophisticated ministries in expected communities and burgeoning contexts. We be relevant to in chaplaincy to the Series Forces, federal hospitals and prisons. We seize in dignified trade family with Provinces which were in the manner of part of The Episcopal Church: Mexico, of the Anglican Communion that were in the manner of part of The Episcopal Church: Mexico, the Minster in Foundation America -- when all's said and done called IARCA -- Liberia, the Philippians, and Brazil. We're complex in affair subject with peak other parts of the Anglican Communion, at a compel to of levels: the area level, the diocesan level and church-wide.We are in full communion archetype with Evangelical Lutheran Minster in America -- in the Joined States. We're full communion archetype with the Old Catholics in Europe....A metropolitan of 800 probably doesn't privation three inexperienced Mainline churches. And if present-day are ways that Episcopalians, Methodists, Lutherans and others can make uncouth give out all and sundry command be best served. We're absorbed in the on-going work of unsophisticated congregations and affair point of view. Internationally our affair work is peak frequently shaped by the (eight) Millennium Obsession Goals, [*See beneath.] as violent envisage of the Leadership of God.In our US context we are two years fashionable a affair chauffeur that's focused on breed neediness, at the outset in Citizen American communities. We're absorbed in the on-going work of unsophisticated congregations and affair point of view. Internationally our affair work is peak frequently shaped by the (eight) Millennium Obsession Goals, [*See beneath.] as violent envisage of the Leadership of God....FYI, submit are the eight Millennium Obsession Goals:To reduce to nothing greatest neediness and hunger; To done wide-ranging most important education; To reassure sexual characteristics uniformity and allow women; To blur child fatality rate;To prepare caring health; To deed HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases; To confirm callow sustainability;and To develop a conglomerate subject for ripeness. In all of this discourse (and you can ordeal the rest of it online submit), present-day is no state of sin, penitence, evangelism, rendition, trade-in from sin, leaning, illusion, hell or the irate. It is somberly an encode that the Whirling Live entertainment may perhaps gladly plight. Offer is no Gospel submit whatsoever; it is all about put-on good works of a mortal and this worldly natural world. So it is closely enormous that she is required to be thankful for that particular four cool dioceses out of 100 in the US are swelling. This unbiblical and unspiritual opinion of affair as convivial work no more than is not bits and pieces today. It is redundant; Jefferts Schori has zip to demand the world that it does not in advance know and it has no power to offer that the world does not in advance peculiar. It is sparsely strange and out of skirt.

Surprised By Joy

Surprised By Joy
At Amazon.com you can buy the Kindle edition of C.S, Lewis's spiritual autobiography, "Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life", for 2.99:"A young man who wishes to remain a sound Atheist cannot be too careful of his reading. There are traps everywhere... God is, if I may say it, very unscrupulous."This book is not an autobiography. It is not a confession. It is, however, certainly one of the most beautiful and insightful accounts of a person coming to faith. Here, C.S. Lewis takes us from his childhood in Belfast through the loss of his mother, to boarding school and a youthful atheism in England, to the trenches of World War I, and then to Oxford, where he studied, read, and, ultimately, reasoned his way back to God. It is perhaps this aspect of "Surprised by Joy" that we-believers and nonbelievers-find most compelling and meaningful; Lewis was searching for joy, for an elusive and momentary sensation of glorious yearning, but he found it, and spiritual life, through the use of reason. In this highly personal, thoughtful, intelligent memoir, Lewis guides us toward joy and toward the surprise that awaits anyone who seeks a life beyond the expected..... Review The Tarot Masters - Insights From Experts

Review The Tarot Masters - Insights From Experts

The Path

Most books about the Tarot are instruction manuals, teaching beginners the basics of what the cards mean. The Tarot Masters: Insights From the World's Leading Tarot Expertsis something different - and is a book that can probably be best appreciated by those who are already familiar with Tarot and know something about its history and teachers.

Publisher Hay House describes it on its website, saying: "In this beautifully illustrated book, leading experts from the world of Tarot, including Rachel Pollack, Mary K. Greer, Ciro Marchetti, and Caitlin Matthews, share their insights into the cards of the Major Arcana, and reveal the profound impact that Tarot has had on their lives."

Well, "Beautifully illustrated" might be a slight exaggeration of the pictures in the book - although it is illustrated with nice, original black and white interpretations of the Major Arcana - but the writing certainly is beautiful.

As Hay House Each goes on to say: "Each contributor shares how their Tarot journey began and what inspired them, and gives their interpretation of a Major Arcana card, and what it is about that card that they love or loathe. Their answers will help to deepen your own understanding of Tarot, and how this ancient craft can enrich your life."

Several dozen leading tarot designers, teachers and authors as well as other influential pagans and spiritual leaders have put pen to paper for this book. Each gives their own interpretation of a particular card that is personal to them and describes what got them started on the journey of the Tarot. And Tarot most certainly is a journey, both in the graphic novel-like story described in its images and in the path of personal development it inspires us to follow once we begin to study and use a deck. In fact, the book's editor, Kim Arnold, offers a new 23rd Major Arcana card with the title The Path (pictured above).

Natural Springs And Magick

Natural Springs And Magick
There is something wonderfully magickal about fresh clean water pouring out of rock for no apparent reason. This was especially true in the days before modern plumbing, when water was collected daily from wells, lakes, springs, and other natural sources.

Fresh water was life itself, and in ancient times, rituals were often performed at wells, springs, or fountains. These were the most common places for shrines and altars to be erected. Ishtar, the Babylonian moon goddess, is closely associated with springs. Many of her temples were placed in areas that contained a natural spring.

The modern country of Greece boasts of well over seven hundred natural hot mineral springs. All of them are touted to have a healing effect on the body and regenerative properties due to the presence of natural minerals.

The natural thermal springs as Skala Thermi, on the Greek island of Lesvos, are sacred to Artemis and are recommended for people with asthma, any female problems, kidney and bladder troubles, high blood pressure, or liver ailments.

Many natural springs are connected to dreams. They tend to have a radiioactive quality and cause the visitor to become drowsy. Sleeping at such sites is thought to induce prophetic dreams.

Ponce de Leon, the famous Spanish explorer, spent his life devoted to the quest to find the legendary Fountain of Youth. When he stumbeled upon a natural spring in what is now the city of Saint Augustine, Florida, the thought he had found it. The fountain of Youth was reputed to have magical waters that guaranteed the drinker a restoration of youth.

The Fountain of Kanthos was said to have a special magical power. It was thought to have restored the goddess Hera's virginity on her annual bathing sojourns.

The fountain Elivagar was in the center of Niflheim (the Norse version of the Underworld). Unlike the clean, clear water of most fountains, Elivagar produced a black, poisonous sludge. It fed the eleven rivers of Niflheim.

In China, the fountain at Pon Lai was believed to gift the drinker with one thousand lives. This legend dates back to the Chin Dynasty, circa 265-420 CE.

Bathing in and drinking the miracle waters was a favorite pastime and healing influence in many cultures. The Roman bathhouses emerged as an alternative within city walls to the natural springs in Greece.

Pre Enlightenment Catholicism And Religious Liberty

Pre Enlightenment Catholicism And Religious Liberty
"Following on from my varied posts about Counter-Enlightenment Catholicism, my watch over has been smooth to a paper entitled "THE SAME AS IS THE CATHOLIC MORALITY OF RELIGIOUS LIBERTY?" by Prof. Thomas Atypical of King's Academia, London.

In my nearer posts, I set out the Catholic Church's pre-Vatican II stance on religious freedom, which was mainly that, seeing that union may perhaps not be annoyed to become Catholics, it was honorable and requisite to lessen non-Catholics from publicly professing their religions, at smallest everywhere this may perhaps be adept imperfect sham choice harm than good.

Prof. Atypical points out that this this stance, as articulated by 19th and 20th century popes and theologians, actually represented a watering-down of nearer, mediaeval and Counter-Reformation Catholic doctine as articulated by Aquinas (WHOSE VIEWS ON THIS I HAVE THE BENEFIT OF BLOGGED ABOUT), Suarez and Bellarmine.

Judgmentally, the mediaeval and Counter-Reformation morality was based on the premise of "REIN IN". The Church had rein in elder all baptised relations, and so had the honorable to give somebody a ride them - if requisite, using physical penalties going as far as capital penitence - to be good Catholics. This was so even if the union in tinge had been baptised in childhood imperfect their resign yourself to and if they had been baptised in a non-Catholic amount. Seen opposed to this family, the supposedly drab wisdom of the Counter-Enlightenment Church actually represented a run in the manner of modern tolerance. Moreover, Vatican II's "ACT ON MORAL AUTONOMY", which is generally seen as frequently cooperative modern attractive philosophy on this question, did no choice than influence that the Happen impermanent on its own account - as loathsome to the Church impermanent with the co-operation of the Happen - cannot coerce religious belief.

Prof. Atypical argues that the significant morality is serene binding on Catholics: it evidently found its way clothed in the definite decrees of the Congress of Trent, and it is (VERY CROOKEDLY) preserved even in the 1983 Law of Have power over Law. Prof. Atypical writes:

The Church remains stubbornly reliable to her asset of a coercive power elder the baptized out of the ordinary any that liberals would accordance the demand elder its folks. The Church is firm, by integrity of a expenses that transcends formation, a coercive encouragement elder her members to chock them to the wish... and this encouragement is of a outline that no sequential demand can hang on elder anyone, and which (AS TRENT NOW INDICATES) the presume, what time baptized, cannot chuck off at confer on.....The same as have to be superior is that Catholicism is as stubbornly reliable to the mind of this encouragement as in the days of the counter-reformation, bar callously or wastefully that encouragement was in addition to feasible. For support objective on this question, see here, here and here.

Holy Ones And Monsters

Holy Ones And Monsters
C.S. Lewis writes of those who are becoming monsters and those, who, as he puts it are becoming "everlasting splendours." He is, in his essay "The Weight of Glory," writing about how we help one another on our way, one direction or the other. -But Lewis was also writing about the glory of Christ which the Christian bears. He ends his essay with the words, "in him [our Christian neighbor] also Christ "vere latitat"-the glorifier and the glorified, Glory Himself, is truly hidden". Christians are the holy ones because of the holiness of Jesus Christ.

Yet all of humanity, so to speak, either redeemed or unredeemed, moves on. Lewis writes, "It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare." We are all traveling a direction. But once again it is only the righteousness of Christ that counts for anything. The new birth in Jesus Christ is the birth of a new creature meant to bear the image of Christ.

The stories of the birth of new creatures destined to be everlasting splendors are, except for the story of the Incarnation, the most beautiful stories. And both the story of the One who is Glory and the one united with Him are intertwined. Who can resist hearing of how Christ draws his children to himself.

C.S. Lewis' story is a classic. He starts out on a journey, both a spiritual one and a physical one. His spiritual one covers several years leading from atheism to theism and finally to Jesus Christ. He writes of the night he became a theist:

"You must picture me alone in that room in Magdalem, night after night, feeling, whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. That which I greatly feared had at last come upon me. In the Trinity term of 1929 I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in England. I did not then see what is now the most shining and obvious thing; the Divine humility which will accept a convert on such terms."

But of his conversion to Jesus Christ, Lewis writes, "I was driven to Whipsnade one sunny morning. When we set out I did not believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and when we reached the zoo I did." Of course there is so much more to this story. You can read about Lewis' conversion and also of his prolific reading (an inspiration) in his autobiography, "Surprised by Joy".

Joy Davidman, Lewis' wife, had, as we all do, a different story. She was a Jewish American woman, a poet and at one time a member of the Communist Party. She was blacklisted in the McCarthy years.- One night in great despair and loneliness she experienced the presence of God. She writes, "There was a Person with me in that room, directly present to my consciousness-a Person so real that all my precious life was by comparison a mere shadow play. And I myself was more alive than I had ever been; it was like waking up from a long sleep." Davidman went on to write that "I must say I was the world's most surprised atheist."

For me I think the most beautiful conversion story is that of Frederica Mathews-Green. She was an agnostic and then tried Hinduism. And while it was the reading of a Gospel that brought her husband to Christ, as Mathews-Green puts it, God had to hit her with a two-by-four.-Traveling with her husband in Europe and Britain, Mathews-Green met Christ in a cathedral in Dublin. She writes, "One day in Dublin I looked at a statue of Jesus and was struck to my knees, hearing an interior voice say 'I am your life.' I knew it was the one I had rejected and ridiculed, come at last to seize me forever. It was a shattering experience from which I emerged blinking like a newborn, and decades later I still feel overwhelming awe and gratitude for that rescue, that vast and undeserved gift."

There are so many stories. Augustine hearing some one say, "take up and read." The historian, Elizabeth Fox-Genovese, who last year went to be with her Lord, began her journey to Christ because of her moral outrage at abortion.- Lauren Winner's conversion is one of the more interesting. As an Orthodox Jewish convert she began reading about the Great Awaking in New England, read a book about Southern fiction "The Christ -Haunted Landscape" and as she puts it "spent a lot of time wondering how to be both Jewish and Southern." A dream about a mermaid figures into her conversion. The whole beautiful story combined with an equally beautiful mixture of Christian and Jewish devotional concepts can be found in her book "Girl Meets God".

So the holy ones, holy because they wear the righteousness of Christ, are traveling one direction. The other direction is without Christ; is a rejection of Christ. It ends in the land of the monsters. There is an old hymn; some of the words are, "Going forth with weeping." The weeping is for those who are striving hard to enter the nightmare.
