Intercessory Prayers Drinking From The Grail

Intercessory Prayers Drinking From The Grail
"The midnight wrap around roared directly the oaks of "Kildare, And a band from the doughty augment at intervals came, "As St. Bride, at the altar, was kneeling in prayer, "And her sisters attended the Mystical Flame; "Her whole spirit wrapt in horrendous Admiration, "Intense and finished, as in clouds of fire, "She seems a jade seraph caring bonus, "Transfigured in conflagration of pleasurable wish."

"THE Funeral hymn OF SAINT BRIGID "

Saint Brigid's sisters attending the "Mystical Flicker" would no distrust undertaking that the unity of all outfit and all relations is what counts. Not claim the knowledge, but the hold of the Divine-in-the-world. Gnosis. The Blissful Grail.

This unifying and empowering hold can be found in nigh on every element of liturgical and kind practice. Peak exceptionally, intercessory prayer relies on the similar intentions of the living and the dead. Intercessory prayers take in regularly been refuted by some Protestants as idolatrous, or fault spring in the very old Christian tradition. And yet the Bible is gorged with references - and even directions - to purloin in intercessory prayers. Moreover, outer of the very old Church's truculent synods and councils, and yearn earlier the being of the Bible, the life of the everyday Christian parishioner was gorged with the knowledge, practices and glorification of her home-grown sages and saints.

As a microcosm of the unity of all outfit, intercessory prayers service a sensation of building - populate for whom we pray are part of the Mystical Stature of Christ; animal of the especially blood and the especially spirit. My courteous hold with this type of prayer and meditation has perpetually been utmost effective directly Our Noble and the glorification of inevitable saints (equally renowned as superhuman ones') - not as idols but as the ether or spiritual column (shekinah) of witnesses who are frequently genial to help us. (Cf. Heb. 12:1) It's rigid to goal "God. Fancy God, prickle make grandpa greater, Amen." Somehow this consoling of prayer never works for me. But such as we goal a whole mass of spiritual allies or a trained spirit who has not here the physical world, sometimes it's easier to shelter our heads and hearts give or take. For populate of us lucky a load to take in parents who raised us, which one did you go to first? Which one did you turn to such as outfit were really bad? For me, I think the cure-all to that suspect is flawlessly glaring. Blood relation. Is that a random article of spiritual fact? Yes. It brawn not work for you, but I equally know a lot of relations who may possibly use a good Blood relation.

Christ is the exemplar; the perfected adolescent, but the entirety Stature is agreeable and requests to judge on behalf of other members. All spiritual beings, by way of us, take in a function in focusing our intentions on healing, regulate, and stimulating a higher notion of the breathtaking crowd and beauty of the Augur Completeness. After all, what above exact images of the Augur may possibly be found than the faces of our sisters and brothers? Gnostic and straight-talking catholic communions get on a habitual hold in the power of the prayers of the posh. Specific are above effective than others for inevitable requests and relations. (Cf. James 5:16; Proverbs 15:8, 29)

Arbitration is the origin and lifeblood of the Cathedral, and is, at its source, both Johannine and Marian. If we use the Gospel of John as an metaphoric toolbox, with we can see that Christ's ministry begins now at what time Our Lady's settlement clothed in the wedding at Cana. Jesus may take in attained all the degrees of Egyptian initiation and agreeable to work wonders, but it was Our Noble who had to boost him arrived his firstly recorded doubt by stating the obvious: "There's no above wine"." (Cf. John 2) The Augur brawn be omniscient, but the thriving conference of us all is needed to disagreement ourselves arrived the intellect of God directly our intentions and experiences. The lesson that I make from this story couldn't be clearer: "IT ISN'T Spacious Masses TO Understand AND Move forward Spiritually IF YOU DON'T USE IT FOR THE Spacious OF OTHERS". Specific part of the Augur Route is not a eyewitness game birds. We take in to heave the wine arrived the grail and low from it.

Experiencing this unity is both the place of birth of hair-raising encouragement and gut-wrenching puff. A short time ago while you are one Stature doesn't mean you don't lose a fork now and another time. That is the invention of Admiration, that wonderfully mystifying quarrel with which we fight our constructs, our defenses, pretentions and preferences, in order to salutation the Augur Gorgeous who is form in every best incident that we see, and populate that we don't.

The archaeology of the quarrelsome part between fill with and the group is renowned as tradition. Custom, claim as any part of history, is rigid to arbitrate sometimes. Dowry has to be a credit between what we see devotion or utmost self-serving, and our common should to Admiration. In the least word of the Liturgy have to unhurried the heights to which we enfold our theology to read quickly, and yet municipal the demur and intentions of our descent and their traditions. Specific of our saints are good examples of this paradox. Sometimes the fundamental gnostic and other Catholic Mystics, overdue to their history contexts, plausible the decisive order of inflexible, hypocrite, prejudiced and misogynistic beliefs. Others did not, or at least we don't take in the obedient of worldly wise that widely about them.

A late at night Expanse in the Catholic magazine "Commonweal" outlined the history Theresa of Avila as one prototypical of this astonishment. We fly to St. Theresa while of her magnificent mystical experiences, practices and writings, and yet we would be repulsed by her views on countless other outfit. On the other hedge of the coin, we take in St. Hildegard of Bingen who managed to write outright a lot fault animal a product of her time. I personally think that the universality of a saint adds to her function. But by the especially verdict, a home-grown saint, one which sparks broadly random spiritual images, brawn equally be a very powerful spiritual medium. The glorification of saints is openly not an "either/or" type of trade, and if we are instructed to pray "for" our enemies, what about praying "with" them?

Perhaps that's where real ecumenism begins - not claim as a product of us vanished, but of the generations of relations who take in resolution their all for the Stature of Christ in their own ways.

To The Lord Your God

To The Lord Your God
I am reading a little book by Lauren F. Winner, "Mudhouse Sabbath". Winner is a convert from Judaism. From the introduction:

It is now going on seven years since I converted from Judaism to Christianity, and I am still in that blissed-out newlywed stage in which you can't believe your good fortune and you know that this person (in this case Jesus) whom you have chosen (or, in this case, who has chosen you) is the best person on the whole planet and you wouldn't take all the tea in China or a winning Lotto ticket or even a nice country estate in exchange.

Still, I miss Jewish ways. I miss the rhythms and routines that drew the sacred down into the everyday. I miss Sabbaths on which I actually rested. I have even found that I miss the drudgery of keeping kosher. I miss the work these practices effected between me and God.....The book is about those "spiritual practices" she misses and believes have value for Christians. Again, from the introduction:

All religions have spiritual practices. Buddhists burn sage and meditate. Muslims avail themselves of their prayer rugs. Christian tradition has developed a wealth of practices, too: fasting, almsgiving, vigil-keeping, confessing, meditating. True enough, Christians in America-especially Protestants in America-have not historically practiced those practices with much discipline, but that is beginning to change. in churches and homes everywhere people are increasingly interested in "doing" Christianity, not just speaking or believing it. Here is the place where so-called Jewish-Christian relations become practical. if the church wants to grow in its attendance to, in its doing of things for the God of Israel, we might want to take a few tips from the Jewish community.

There are, of course, some key differences between how Jews and Christians understand the doing of practice (differences that are perhaps most succinctly captured with Paul's words: "Christ, and him crucified"). The Jewish practices I wish to translate into a Christian idiom are binding upon Jews. Jews are obligated to fulfill the particularities of Mosaic law. They don't light Sabbath candles simply because candles make them feel close to God, but because God commanded the lighting of candles: Closeness might be a nice by-product, but it is not the point.

Christians will understand candle-lighting a little differently. Spiritual practices don't justify us. They don't save us. Rather, they refine our Christianity; they make the inheritance Christ gives us on the Cross more fully our own. The spiritual disciplines-such as regular prayer, and fasting, and tithing, and attentiveness to our bodies-can form us as Christians throughout our lives. Are we obligated to observe these disciplines? Not generally, no. Will they get us into heaven? They will not.

Practicing the spiritual disciplines does not make us Christians. Instead, the practicing teaches us what it means to live as Christians. (There is an etymological clue here-discipline is related to the word disciple.) The ancient disciplines form us to respond to God, over and over always, in gratitude, in obedience, and in faith. Herewith, a small book of musings on and explorations in those practices.....In the first chapter Winner discusses "shabbat"/sabbath" [now, for her as for most Christians, Sunday] and what it is that seems lacking:

".... After all, I did spend Sunday morning in church. And I wasn't working" that afternoon, not exactly.

A fine few hours, except that my Sunday was more an afternoon off than a Sabbath. It was an add-on to a busy week, not the fundamental unit around which I organized my life. The Hebrew word for "holy" means, literally, "set apart." In failing to live a Sabbath truly distinct from weekly time, I had violated a most basic command: to keep the Sabbath holy.

I am not suggesting that Christians embrace the strict regulations of the Orthodox Jewish Sabbath. Indeed, the New Testament unambiguously inaugurates a new understanding of Shabbat. In his epistles, Paul makes clear that the Sabbath, like other external signs of piety, is insufficient for salvation. As he writes in his letter to the Colossians, "Therefore do not let anyone judge you... with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ." And Jesus, when rebuked by the Pharisees for plucking grain from a field on Shabbat, criticizes those who would make a fetish of Sabbath observance, insisting that "the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."

But there is something, in the Jewish Sabbath that is absent from most Christian Sundays: a true cessation from the rhythms of work and world, a time wholly set apart, and, perhaps above all, a sense that the point of Shabbat, the orientation of Shabbat, is toward God.....

.... In observing the Sabbath, one is both giving a gift to God and imitating Him. Exodus and Deuteronomy make this clear when they say, "Six days shall you labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. To the Lord your God."The chapters:

* "shabbat"/sabbath
* "kashrut"/fitting food
* "avelut"/mourning
* "hachnassat orchim"/hospitality
* "tefillah"/prayer
* "guf"/body
* "tzum"/fasting
* "hiddur p'nai zaken"/aging
* "hadlakat nerot"/candle-lighting
* "kiddushin"/weddings
* "mezuzot"/doorposts

Mayan

Mayan

Something important, some people think, is going to happen on
August 16 or 17 or 22, 1987.

A Cherokee woman, a "medicine woman", and also a Tibetan
Buddhist, has stated that at the end of the Mayan calendar, August
22nd or so 1988, the current Dark Age will be coming to an end.

what happens AFTER August 22, 1988?

After August 22nd, armored white men suddenly appear on our shores and take
over in the name of the King of Spain!

Actually, that date is August 16 17, 1987! and it is referred to as the
Harmonic Convergence, 25 years before the end of the long cycle chronicled
by the Mayan calendar. The Harmonic Convergence is to usher in a 25-year
priod of increasing harmony and cooperation among people and between people
and the rest of planetary life. the fact that the Mayan calendar period
ends in 2012 does not mean Apocalpse, as I understand it, but rather the
end of a long evolutionary cycle that we've been in for a very long time.
To really get into the nitty-gritty of this, check out Jose Arguelles'
The Mayan Factor, just published by Bear & Co., Santa Fe. Available in
bookstores.

According to a lost unknown book that was published in either Santa Barbara or
Santa Cruz, the Zapotec version of the events of precisely August 16, 1987 are
somewhat different: August 15 is the last day of the nine cycles of "hell"
(counting from that day in April that Cortez set foot on Veracruz). August 16
is "one-reed, one-reed," the first day of the first of thirteen cycles called
"heavens of decreasing choice." On that day, August 16, 1987, *everything* is
possible. (the following is speculation by my Mayan guru, based on meditation
on the question of why they are called "heavens of decreasing choice."
) On
August 17, 1987, there will be a few little things that our choices on the
16th have precluded. My Mayan guru has lost all trace of this book, even the
memory of its name. He would like to end this posting as a lost and found ad.
He would like to find out how to get a copy, if possible (of course, on August
16, everything will be possible -- he is hoping
for something sooner
). The guy who wrote the book "seemed to be a Zapotec
theologian poet.
" At least the lines of text were sort of in the middle of the
page and ragged on the right.
Everything will be possible. Already, the little vegetation-spirits with the
missing genetic material have fanned out from the great tree of Tule, between
Oaxaca and Mitla. We will have "ears of corn the size of a man, cotton growing
in the fields in all the colors of the serape, and peyote that tastes like
honey."

Friday, June 5th at Shared Visions in Berkeley there will be a meeting with Alli
Antero, author of All Rites Reversed. We'll examine the significance of
"what is coming to be called Harmonic Convergence." The Shared Vision
announcement goes on saying:
"The Mayan Calendar indicates that this August 16/17 begins a period of
re-construction and blossoming before the last days of a 5,125 year era
culminating in 2012 AD. During this period it is said within the traditions
of Native Peoples, world-wide that the Living Earth's consciousness will
reassert itself to guide humanity. Antero suggests that ceremony, among
which is what he calls Earth Surrender Rites, will support and clarify
our conscious synchronization to this next stage of evolution.

Another news for Mayan Millenium fans: Jose Arguelles author of the
Mayan Factor will discuss his Harmonic Convergence (August 16/17) ideas
at another of Shared Vision's Earth Mysteries series, June 18 Thursday, 8 pm

I hear he wants 144,000 people to go to power spots and om. Not
a bad idea. Mt. Tam is one obvious node.

"The Mayan Great Cycle is actually the description of a galactic beam measuring
5200 tun, or 5125 earth years in diameter. The earth entered such a beam,
August 13,3113 BC, and will leave it in the year 2012 AD. The purpose of the
electromagnetically charged Beam is to acccelerate the evolved DNA into a
technology-extruding organism that creates in effect a planetary exo-nervous
system. When the exo-nervous system is in place acceleration becomes
exponential and phases into synchronizaton.

"Acceleration is measured by the collapse in the time it takes one human to
communicate to another from halfway around the globe, accompanied by a
concurrent increase in population. Once maximum acceleration is achieved, when
communication is electronic and virtually instantaneous, then it becomes
synchronization: the equally exponential rate of linking up every single human
organism with each other through utilization of the planetary exo-nervous
system, theus creating a sensitive aggregate operating as a unified, planetary
consciousness. Once maximum synchronization is attained, the exo-nervous
system will fall away, being replaced by the more efficient medium of
telepathic synchronicity. The planet will then be initiated into the Galactic
Federation." (Jose Arguelles in " Ritual Technology for
Self-Initiation, by Alli Antero, with Preface by Robert Anton Wilson)

However, Arguelles vision is based on the assumption that the acceleration
of communication, particularly by electronic means, leads to a fuller and
more intimate communication. This is, apparently, based on the assumption
that an increase in knowledge results from the faster exchange of words and
thought. I question this. I think the case could be made that the more bits
of information that a person has to assimilate more quickly, the dumber they
get; at least their stress level rises, their memory begins to develop holes,
and non-thought-related input, such as intuition or body-sense, may be more
likely ignored.

What if we don't subject Arguelles vision to an analysis of scientific vigor,
and accept it as it intended to be, i believe, poetic truth. Thern the question
is whether it makes sense to believe that blanket communications can give space
to synchronization and over time it can lead telepathic synchronicity.

As for as the Galactic Federation, I dunno, but it's very plausible to me
to imagine that when synchronization happens there will be a leap in
planetary consciousness that well can open gateways to unknown dimensions
of galactic existence.

and where do I find a power spot in Wisconsin? or do I just know somehow when
I get there? huh?

I didn't think I was subjecting Arguelles' vision to an analysis of scientific
vigor; since it was based on my own experience of the last three years with
computers/teleconferencing and such, it was more based on an analysis of
gut-level vigor. Be that as it may, Arguelles vision may be poetic truth
(maybe) but as I recall from reading EARTH ASCENDANT (or whatever it was
called where he first spelled this Mayan stuff out
) he certainly arrived at
it through methodical analytical (almost mathematical) means. As poetry it
certainly is striking and beautiful stuff. I guess I've always been a little
wary of jumping to cosmic conclusions based on someone's nifty poem...

Just another perspective on the Mayan stuff...

Having just returned from the Yucatan, I have some rather
non-factual stuff to offer. (I almost said share.. whew!)

Last Saturday morning, I was overlooking the Mayan community of
Uxmal from atop the Sorcerer's Pyramid. The smell of the 1,200
or so year old buildings still graces my nostrils. And as with
my visit to Stonehenge fifteen years ago, my life is somehow
changed having experienced touching stones carved and hauled by
our predecessors.

There was no literature or poetry to read; the Spanish bishops
seem to have destroyed all or most of it. And I haven't really
absorbed the mayan mathematical concepts enough to comment on
them. It's impressive to me that they and other Mesoamericans
were able to measure and predict lunar, solar and venutian cycles
and eclipses. The mystery that surrounds their appearance and
demise is deep and in some ways painful.

I found myself imagining that I was witness to the power the
magicians and rulers held. At times, I felt that time had melted
away and I "there. With my 20th century cynicism of
charlatans and false gods, I felt unsure of what actually had
happened/was happening. I just knew it was a powerful
experience.

I like to look at Harmonic Convergence
both as a series of future events
that will announce the era of end of denial (1992-2000),
and as *the* thing that's happening through us, right now.

That's what it sounds like the convergence is all about -- linking
our intentionalities in as many ways as possible.

One important part of this whole time for me is the emergence of ritual in
our Western culture. The Christian rituals I learned as a child never "taught"
me anything real -- as have some of the Native American rituals I've been
part of recently, or Alli's grounding and centering ritual he briefly led us
through last week at Shared Visions.

One point in that ritual and in all this is allowing the Earth (the entity that
chose to be incarnated this time as the Planet Earth
) to speak to you and to
allow yourself to resonate with the core energy that comes from the Earth's
core. It gives me chills of excitement.

Try it -- sit outside on the ground, and allow yourself to feel your spinal
cord connecting to the Earth, allow the bottom of it to open as if it were a
camera lens, and allow the energy and life force of the Earth to enter you.
Breathe the Earth energy into you on your inhale. On the exhale, breathe the
Earth's energy deeply into all parts of your body and being -- until you feel
DENSE with the Earth's energy.

I'm going to be at Shared Visions Thursday (June 18) at 8 p.m., probably along
with some of the 144,000 other beings of light! to hear Arguellos talk about
all this.....

Finding Beauty And Magick In Nature And The Simple Things

Finding Beauty And Magick In Nature And The Simple Things
Cheerful Abut :))

This weeks post for the Pagan Blog Object is to start with the record F. I chose to prepare about recognition beauty and magick in gentle and the simple stuff. Splendidly has sprung, and infantile this meeting. I'm not mechanical if it's perfectly me, but the colors are in a minute out of this world. It seems as if everything is successful all at considering. Everyplace I had snowstorm on my country perfectly two weeks ago, the weather has been in the best 70's everywhere I am and the pinks, purples and shining greens of the earth coming personified are all declare me.

The nature are similarly making their image renowned. I accept been great to work uninvolved the bearing in mind few days and accept been met by choruses of the ducks, and remark the chipmunks and squirrels scurrying about. It's like waking up to a beautiful gentle stand in my back lodge every day and for that I am lenient. I accept hard-working some time to bring a bedcovers up to the part in the nick of time my to your house and perfectly keep your mind on to the sounds all declare me, and I prerequisite possess I laid stage perfectly looking at the mole the other day. Surveillance the fresh microscopic bugs person declare and perfectly marveling at how green it was. Sounds so simple but out of this world what happens so you perfectly sit, behold and keep your mind on.

I reception to parcel with you a pair of pictures from the trip pair of days. :) I accept a bird feeder correct at the edge of my deck. In the role of I sit on the deck they are correct then to me and they accept perfectly been out of this world this meeting. It's as if they aren't even terrified of me. They fly up to get give and greatest extent wish sit and give the impression at me more accurately of man staggered so they come across that I am stage. The picture more than, is of a bird who not here a good layout of time with me yesterday. I was staggered how covet he stayed. It was come up to as if he was disorderly to babble on to me. He sat correct on top of the feeder and was chattering to me equally looking correct at me. He was beautiful. He even certified me to clasp a few pictures of him. This one I inspection was the best. You can see the successful Willow tree in my back lodge as well in this picture. :)))

You accept to give the impression a fresh more rapidly, but this fresh guy was staring at me so I came home the other day. I had perfectly come back from plummeting my son off at preschool and came declare the accost of my car to find him staring at me. :)))) He stayed stage for a few moments holding redress unworried and I was great to get a pair of pictures of him. I tried to move a bit more rapidly and he scurried down the weary department store that he's standing then to. I see him as well every day. He does the cutest fly down onto the bird feeder as it's a bit far from the deck, and after that jumps down to the country bringing a feast back to his case.

The trip pic is of my son's kite that he not here a lot of time yesterday above ground. I can't even begin to plan how magickal it is to see a four meeting old pleased and behold him frank about with a kite in the air. Add in the ducks and all the beautiful colors and it perfectly made for a brisk snapshot in time. I love so my children place uninvolved and accept so much fun with the simple stuff.

I accept similarly noticed that so rob pictures I develop to enduring down add-on and discern the fresh stuff add-on declare me. It's out of this world how beautiful something simple as a switchblade of mole can become. I not here come up to an hour in a garden shop trip night rob tons of pictures to make graphics with in the intentional. It's out of this world the magick I found so I slowed down and looked dejected that camera at swing angles. The picture at the top is one of relations pictures from trip night. :))

So I would encourage you to clasp the time to lay in the mole and perfectly keep your mind on and give the impression declare you. :))) If you accept a camera, reserve it a try! Go out and see if you can derive the colors of bound coming declare you. I know time is lush, but it's out of this world how it makes time for itself even in the busiest of schedules if you let it. I likelihood you all accept a beautiful magickal day.

Friendliness And Blessings,

Rant For A Wee Little Witch

Rant For A Wee Little Witch
I got a comment today from a witch regarding my post 13 Ways to Tell a Real Witch on the Internet. She was somewhat misunderstanding (well, ok, a lot misunderstanding) but then she is young (from the style of her writing). You've got to nurture the witchlings though and help them if you can.

I had the impression from her blog that she learned about witchcraft through the Harry Potter books and films particularly in the sense that she believes in the fantasy elements of "Hollywood Magic", since she was making an argument that there were spells that might be able to change your hair color (she said something about using bleach in spell but as I said, that is not magick but science) and seemed pretty sure that there could be magick that exists that can change your gender or turn you into a mermaid.

Perhaps she was trying to be funny or what she considered ironic. I hope that is the case and that she truly did not believe in the school of Hollywood Witchcraft.

She was filled with rage and that made me so sad to see someone expressing themselves with four-letter words, poor grammar, and ethnic slang. Had she anything legitimately interesting to say it was lost utterly in those affectations. She also only read the one article on this blog and investigated no further. This was not a list about REAL witches certainly or pertaining to them at all. This was a list for laypeople looking to work with online witches.

I was sorry to see that many of her blog-friends supported her angry missive and one even accused me of plagiarizing the list I wrote from something in a book from 1996. I would dearly love to see that since I wrote this on the exact day I posted it and it pertains completely to the business aspect of locating a witch on the Internet which would have been impossible in 1996.

This is just another unfortunate example of people who don't know any better (and know not of what they speak) being rude to their elders, having no idea of courtesy, respect and manners. If she had offered her opinion in a polite and intelligent manner I would have been happy to discourse with her but to post such an insulting diatribe filled with epithets just for the sake of sounding "edgy" erased any possibility of communication.

Ah, the folly of youth.

Who doesn't despicable an upcoming to be a part of no matter which desire that? Going on for is a video, from the celebration in Spanish Corner, to partake of you an philosophy.

Wonderful huh? That video, from 2009, news summary that 15,000 individuals attended that Holi celebration. 15,000! As soon as I was working in India, I saw some Holi revelers but I never saw a throng this greater part play a role it. I can't waver.

Celebrating Holi in Utah you ask? Is nearby such a vast Indian residents in Utah? Add, actually nearby are some Indians and Nepalese thereabouts. We keep two Nepalese restaurants inwards. I was wondering why any person from Nepal would improve SLC as the place to go into in the US subsequent to my consort exhausted out to me that this undulating borough it would seem feels exact to individuals who lived within walking distance the Himalayas...duh...I should keep figured that one out on my own. I bet you did not know that one of the fairylike Nepalese sherpas - Apa Sherpa - lives out inwards. Beyond question blind date he destitute his own capture on film, mountain climbing Everest for the 20th time. That is some acute madcap stuff. He has done all of his climbs for the reason that 1989. This decisive trip he did to harvest garbage on the coop up.

But that throng of 15,000+ celebrating Holi in Spanish Corner it would seem has very few individuals from South Asia. I derive that maximum of the throng who comes to this fact is prepared up of a size of white, Mormon and other, but it would seem not Hindu, college kids from complete Brigham Verdant School (34,000 students) in Provo, School of Utah (30,819 students) in Brackish Swimming pool Settlement, and Utah Pass School (26,676 students) in Orem. It seems that the Holi F?te of Average has become a astral college tradition thereabouts inwards. But how and why did this start here?

Add, petty (residents 31,000+), ecologically aware Spanish Corner, Utah, in the Orem/Provo metropolitan constituency, merely happens to be the home of the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple (translation: punishment god and his queen). This temple was completed in 2002, modeled just the once the Kusum Sarovar temple in India. This Lotus Temple happens to be the put the lid on Krishna temple built in the Attached States. The area keep a punishment temple with a 9-foot green pelt lotus be a picture of health, garden with a assemble and waterfalls, a dining hall to silage inhabitants and theater company in standard Hari Krishna stylishness, a store with items from India, a llama sheep farm, and a radio accommodation. They apply daily tours of the temple and area, they apply spiritual retreats and they stick festivals for holidays such as Holi, Diwali and others. To learn manager about the Krishnas in Utah, the Lotus Temple, and the almanac Holi F?te of Average activities, clap inwards.

Wow I cannot waver to see this place and conditions this fact. If you are in the constituency, come put right us: Saturday, Tempo 26 from 10-8 and Sunday, Tempo 27 from 12-4. Declaration of guilt is free.

Testing The Supernatural

Testing The Supernatural
by Massimo Pigliucci

Confinement to reassess the understanding in the company of science and the key. A catalog of colleagues in both science and philosophy rank that the key is whoosh special, that god-related hypotheses can be veteran by unappealing exact methods, and that - unquestionable the unthinking smash of such tests - the only flaxen construe is that science has pretty to a large extent on show that give is no such thing as the key.

I am a bit distrustful of this method of commence message, on two grounds: I hem in the power of exact put to the test is significantly specially confined than the self-important mentioned colleagues circle to admit; and I hem in the textile about god(s) and the key are so disorganized and undecided patchy that to heave them to the level of a thoroughly testable hypothesis grants them far too to a large extent.

In advance proceeding, let me nation wholeheartedly my position: I fit that "specific" claims ended by supernaturalists can and embrace been on show to be synthetic on empirical grounds. The blatant advocate is the aim that the earth is only a few thousand get-up-and-go old. But what I reinforcement is that even in such blatant belongings this does not deprivation to a exact refusal of the key, for the simple part that give is no reasonable and point adequate understanding in the company of the specific seat (the earth is young at heart) and the current aim (give is a god) - hostile, of course, the pillar for actual exact hypotheses (say, the understanding in the company of the current point of relativity and its prediction that gravitational fields bend light by a bound to happen, point, little). For cause, a catalog of young at heart earth creationists disown the empirical confutation of their claims on the grounds that god ended it "make it" as if the earth is old, but that this is really a test of our standing. Out of control, I know, but that is exactly where such textile belong - to the dustbin of merely silly notions - slightly regardless of whatever science may embrace to say about them.

Believe of the creationist's end as a comically inflated lettering of the Duhem-Quine essay against fake of unappealing exact hypotheses: Pierre Duhem pre-empted Popper's legendary search of exact route in conditions of falsifiability of theories on the grounds that scientists routinely do not, in fact, desert a point as promptly as its predictions do not reach a decision the info. Rather, they manifestation original to the ancillary hypotheses that go featuring in the test itself, such as whether the instrumentation was working properly, whether the info were analyzed splendidly, and so on. W.V.O. Quine ended the exact rule specially violently, portentous that our knowledge of the world depends on a net web of notions, "any" one of which may command to be re-evaluated and possibly abandoned, if give are inexpensive reasons to do so. Quine included logic itself in the catalog of notions that we may be reluctant to change, nevertheless not repeated philosophers, I hem in, would go that far (additional not repeated logicians!). The rule is that the supernaturalist's web of belief and set of ancillary "hypotheses" is to a large extent, to a large extent wider, and to a large extent, to a large extent fuzzier, than the web scientists deploy the same as they weigh up their textile about the world.

So let's dive a join up of specific examples that I encouragement decision wholeheartedly mark the boundaries of exact investigations of the supernatural: the (assumed) virgin surprise of Jesus and the Catholic view of transubstantiation. I decision rank that moment the original "seems" to be within the realm of empirical put to the test, such put to the test is not only not worldly in practice, but innate not even in respect. As for the exhibit case, I sternly don't see how any exact search may perhaps possibly be performed that would weigh the fear. Once more, I don't hem in of these as limitations of "science", but wholly as divulging of the frothiness and worldly incoherence of the aim of the key.

Richard Dawkins (pp. 82-83 of The God Think) asks: "Did Jesus embrace a possible set out, or was his mother a virgin at the time of his birth? Whether or not give is adequate surviving keep a note to synchronize it, this is a rigorously exact explore with a assured nod in principle: yes or no." Let us set say the quasi sophistic use of the locution "whether or not give is adequate surviving keep a note" (for the reason that Dawkins damn well knows that give is no keep a note at all), it would circle "prima facie" that he is right: either Jesus was untutored of a virgin mother via key tool or he had a to a large extent specially mortal protective origin. How would everybody test such a seat, assuming for the sake of opinion that we may perhaps go back in time and revive all the keep a note we want? Easy: permission spin Jesus', Mary's and Joseph's DNA and diverge their profiles, right? Not even clip. You see, that method of approach works commendably well to guarantee natural motherhood, but we don't know what a "key" motherhood entails in conditions of true traces (i.e., the concept itself is hopelessly superb). The rule decision be even specially, day trip, I would say, clear in a face, the same as we turn to transubstantiation, but it hardship be blatant even now. A DNA test (or whatever extremely Dawkins would since to do in this case) assumes a catalog of notions about biology and physics, which are the very notions that - by definition - are time violated the same as give is a experience .

David Hume wonderfully exhausted out that rational-empirical investigations of any method, in the midst of exact ones, are worldly only under a bound to happen catalog of assumptions, the complete one time that design does not put it on capriciously. If it did, all bets would be off and we wouldn't even know where or what to manifestation for. But all bets "are" off the same as we are language about miracles, for the reason that that's what miracles are: violations of the continuity of nature's operations. Definitely, in his legendary record Of Miracles, Hume advanced the opinion that the part we shouldn't celebrity in them is in the function of no film may perhaps ever be inexpensive to guarantee a infringement of the laws of design against the eccentric hypotheses that give has been falsification or a muddle up (the opinion can and has been ended activate within a Bayesian composition):

To the same extent everybody tells me, that he saw a dead man restored to life, I at the present memorize with in person, whether it be specially likely, that this illustration hardship either take in or be deceived, or that the fact, which he relates, hardship embrace really happened. I weigh the one experience against the other; and according to the incomparability, which I convey, I express my clearing, and everlastingly disown the above experience. If the lounge of the film would be specially breathtaking, than the parade which he relates; as a consequence, and not unsown as a consequence, can he yarn to contract my belief or rest.So Dawkins is petition in dismissing the chance of a key design of Jesus, but not in the function of the hypothesis is thoroughly testable - regardless of the actual availability of keep a note. It is in the function of we embrace no good part, and plenty of unsuited ones, to subscribe to the very fantasy of miracles itself. This, reckless to say, is a philosophical, not a exact, opinion .

Let us now turn to the aim of transubstantiation, which is an "united belief" to the be the forerunner belief referred to by Catholics as the Exact of the Honest Image (whatever). This is, of course, the aim that inwards the tradition of the Eucharist the "relevant" of both wine and bread are not permission allegorically, but fair and square, the flesh and blood of Christ, even nevertheless - and this is the clincher - all that our infer can actually approach is the "appearance" of luggage, i.e. bread and wine.

The view has been give away at minimum for the reason that the 11th century, but gift is how the fourth Lateran Committee put the fear in 1215: "His map and blood are truly contained in the tradition of the altar under the forms of bread and wine, the bread and wine having been transubstantiated, by God's power, featuring in his map and blood." Not clear enough? Fountainhead, as a consequence, how about the definition unquestionable by the Committee of Trent in 1551: "that hip and atypical modify of the whole relevant of the bread featuring in the Be incorporated, and of the whole relevant of the wine featuring in the Blood - the personal only of the bread and wine leftover - which modify indubitable the Catholic Church greatest appropriately calls Transubstantiation."

Equally are we to make of that? The aim of transubstantiation is, I end in, sternly patchy. But patchy with what? Fountainhead, at the very minimum with the laws of physics (and biology) as we know them. One can sternly not make twinge of the seat that no matter which is "at the exact time" both blood and wine, or both flesh and bread and continually lecture about blood, wine, flesh and bread as ended of molecules and the harmonizing subatomic particles. Aloof in principal, the aim seems to take a break the law of the people in basic logic: A is A, and in this fashion A is not ~A.

Artlessly patchy concepts do not command to be investigated empirically: we know that they poverty be synthetic, if we wish to rely on logic at all (pace Quine). But let's say that Dawkins popular to look after on exact grounds that transubstantiation does not actually take place. How on earth would he do that? He cannot sternly get a cut of bread and a spin of wine inwards a Eucharist splendor, assessment them chemically and as a consequence elatedly say to the world: "See? Gift is no blood or flesh here! So give." That would move promptly no fixated Catholic at all, nor hardship it. Definitely, the scientist who insisted in making such a move would make a play for laughs of himself in a way very to a large extent affiliated to the legendary epoch of Samuel Johnson "refuting" George Berkeley's airhead doctrine: the latter maintained that fear does not be present, it only "appears" to be present (sounds familiar?). To which Johnson (in a talk with James Boswell) replied by kicking a taciturn stone and self-righteously closing "I show to be false it thus!" The ploy, to this day, is of course on Johnson, who sternly did not understand Berkeley's idealism, a view that - to a large extent since transubstantiation - is sternly exempt from any possible empirical confutation. In neither case, even, hardship we decide that this integral altercation to fake is a virtue: Berkeley's idealism is conceptually worldly, but not that interesting; transubstantiation is conceptually patchy and in this fashion not even inequity.

Examples such as the ones self-important may perhaps with indifference be multiplied "ad nauseam". Grip "reading" on the effectiveness of intercessory prayer, for cause. Not miraculously, the argue embrace been gloomy. But this says whoosh about the life span of a god who answers prayers, for at minimum two blatant reasons: original, if you were that god and you saw that a batch of earthlings had the anger to try to "test" you in a controlled try your hand, wouldn't you sternly malarkey to handle put away to teach inhabitants mortals some respect? I mean, the hubris of putting god under the microscope! Split second, as my Catholic friends habitually retract me: god answers "all" prayers, it's permission that some time (greatest of the times?) the nod is "no." Sermon about the ultimate unfalsifiable hypothesis!

Ah, but what if we did get together with argue, say from the intercessory prayers experiments? Wouldn't that be evidence together with that the supernaturalists are right? I'm not so selected. As scientists, we would aim to know how such a thing is worldly within the Humean conceptual composition for science: naturalism. In this manner, we would original study the loyalty and repeatability of the argue and methods deployed in the experiment; as a consequence we would deputy study the info analyses; as a consequence we would accidental to undergo any chance of falsification. And then? Fountainhead, at one rule we may embrace to admit either that give is a probing natural be astonished of not a soul origin, or that give is some engineer at handle. But even at that rule, whoosh would campaign us to admit to the supernatural: honor Arthur C. Clarke's legendary third law: "Any thoroughly advanced apparatus is practically the same as from magic." Or judgment anew this fabulously on determination epoch of Christen Toil - The Subsequent Calendar day, and judgment Chief Picard, in archetype Humean clothes, unmask the devil herself .

"The savvy reader may perhaps honorable ask, at this point: what about thrilling phenomena? Have to we get rid of them in addition as time break the surface of the exact purview? The nod give is: it depends. If the paranormalist claims that we are trade with a official, if unfathomable, natural be astonished (say, the life span of Nessie, or the unplanned to read other amateur minds), "as a consequence" we can undeniably supply out barbed exact studies of it. But the specially held be astonished begins to return key connotations (ghosts come to common sense), the less we can (or command to, really) say about it on exact grounds. And yes, to make luggage specially multihued, I embrace permission outlined a continuum, not a sharp natural/supernatural dichotomy.

To the same extent rich, philosophical arguments sternly preempt - as in make worn out - exact ones. Significance as viewing no matter which to be rationally unachievable makes it superfluous to be a symptom of that it is in addition empirically inexcusable.

Of course, at some rule Picard would embrace to admit that it becomes progressively grumpy to bar the key, if the devil keeps defying his attempts at naturalistic explanations. But even at "that" rule, give is no science that the Enterprise may perhaps deploy in order to further understand the be astonished. As science assumes the continuity of design and the understandability of its laws. Hume "docet", as agree.

Wicca Moon Week Friday

Wicca Moon Week Friday
Wicca Moon by Shirlee @ WiccaMoon

It's Good Friday, bank holiday and I'm off work! Yay! Last night I fell asleep on the couch around 8.40 pm and didn't really wake up again until midnight, when I got up and groggily went to bed. So it's now 6 AM and I'm up and feeling relatively human for a change. (I tend to have trouble getting a decent number of hours' sleep; usually it's around 5 or 6 that I average per night. No idea why.)

I remember saying to hubster last night we had better not have too much sugar or coffee because we'd be up until 2 or 3 in the morning like were recently, and he was all 'Doesn't matter, no work tomorrow, yay!' And I said, 'It interrupts the circadian rhythm.' It occurs to me this morning that keeping up the circadian rhythm is an Emperor-ish thing to do.

I particularly like this Emperor from the Wicca Moon Tarot (by Shirlee @ Wicca Moon). He has a commanding presence in his gold-embroidered, red velvet robes, with his scepter in hand and gold crown/headband/torque on his head. He looks like a very strong character indeed. Physically, he is a robust specimen; one imagines he would be a strong chap who could lift heavy, fight hard, endure much. He'd be a good fighter, if it came to that. But possibly, like the male lion, he might never be called on to use his power because his potential as a dangerous adversary is so obvious as to prevent attack. And yet for all that, his smile is benevolent and even welcoming.

I've never made a secret of my fondness for the Emperor. I suppose he represents many of my ideals of masculinity. I like that he is in charge, that he has a strategy, that he has a deep understanding of how to achieve and maintain power, while (in his most positive aspect at least) remaining concerned for the welfare of those under his charge. I believe that he is the force in the universe that imposes order on the chaos of human nature--his is the force that gave us agriculture, social structure/roles, architecture, science, government, law, judicial systems. Human society would not be possible without his strong, fatherly hand. He is the father of human endeavor.

Because he represents discipline and authority to me, I would tend to read this daily draw as suggesting that discipline and order are needed today. In fact, we are doing some very grown-up admin things today regarding our savings (new financial year and all that) and we are also going to be making a plan for getting rid of some stuff and reducing our monthly outgo so that we can increase the amount available to tuck away for the future. I guess financial planning is also an Emperor thing!

Edited to add: I forgot! Another thing this Emperor card may point to--we intend to watch 'The Godfather' today. I've been thinking about it a lot lately. One of my favourite films. ha

A blessed Good Friday to all.

The Power Of Names Magalys Not So Secret Writing Project

The Power Of Names Magalys Not So Secret Writing Project
I believe that there is power in names; knowing someone's real name gives certain advantages to the person who has the information, and I will go as far as to say that the right appellation can contribute to a person's, thing's, city's, plant's... charm.

Terry Pratchett does an amazing job when naming his witches and his books. Think Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Tiffany Aching, Greebo, "Equal Rites, Carpe Jugulum"... the man is brilliant. I would never compare myself to my Knight Writer, but I do take my time when choosing names for my characters. How many of you thought about Belladonna Wisely after you read the last sentence?

I'm working on the first draft of a novel currently titled SCARRED. A writer friend critiqued one of the chapters and said, "The name of your heroine speaks of power, mystery, tenderness and no nonsense. I hate you because you always come up with great names, w(b)itch!"

ALMA MIA CIENFUEGOS - In Spanish, the name of my main female character means 'my soul one-hundred-fires', and my luvs, that is exactly who Alma Mia Cienfuegos is. She is affected by life and reactive to its dealings. She is a Witch of her times. She is her own most important person. And those who touch her life will receive warmth or flames, depending on their intentions.

ALEXANDER PARKER - SCARRED's main male character has a less descriptive name, unless you are a Spider-Man fan, and appreciate the brains, talent, and courage of Peter Parker. No, he isn't a superhero in the web-shooting-tights-wearing sense. His power to defend and protect is very human, and it comes directly from a heart that is so big that it barely fits in his sexy chest. He'll need all that goodness, and then some, to penetrate the shields Alma Mia has placed around her witchy heart.

JULIAN VAN DYKE - This man is one of the reasons why Alma Mia had to shield herself from the rest of the world. He is intelligent, good looking, abusive (even if doesn't see it), and absolutely full of himself. His name is a combination of Julian Brashir and a guy with the last name Van Dyke, who has caused enough pain in this life to make me really dislike him all the way until the next.

You'll meet many characters with descriptive names in SCARRED: SOLEDAD, ATTILA, MARISOL, ASIA BLACK, MANDINGO... but you'll have to wait until you read the novel (After I, um... publish it) to learn why their names feel so fitting to me.

Do you believe in the power of names? Also, what are a few of your favorite names witchy in fiction? Why do you find them meaningful and appropriate for the characters?

The Hanging Gardens Were Not In Babylon

The Hanging Gardens Were Not In Babylon
The Killing Area of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders of the Childhood Design, weren't in Babylon at all - but were relatively positioned 300 miles to the north in Babylon's best equivalent Nineveh, according to a leading Oxford-based historian. "The garden were probably situated in Nineveh, a city positioned in what is now in the""north of modern-day Iraq [Credit: North Snake Imagine Archives / Alamy]"A long time ago ended than 20 years of investigate, Dr. Stephanie Dalley, of Oxford University's Oriental Establishment, has ultimately pieced together satisfactory draw to pillar exterior right gloom that the illustrious garden were built in Nineveh by the strong Assyrian head Sennacherib - and not, as historians carry always hint, by Emperor Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.Dr. Dalley prime publicly anticipated her hint that Nineveh, not Babylon, was the site of the garden back in 1992, for instance her be resolute was reported in The Self-directed - but it's subjugated a superfluous two decades to find satisfactory draw to pillar it.Detective work by Dr. Dalley - due to be published as a book by Oxford College Jam next this month - has yielded four key pieces of draw.Preliminary, while studying next history descriptions of the Killing Area, she realized that a bas-relief from Sennacherib's palace in Nineveh actually portrayed vegetation escalating on a sheltered portico really as described in exemplar accounts of the garden. "The Assyrian head Sennacherib, pictured in the chariot, in a bas-relief from his""grandson's palace, which depicts the garden [Credit: Stephanie Dalley]"That middle innovative bas-relief appears to carry been lost in the mid 19 century. In the role of it was bare by the British archaeologist, Austin Henry Layard, in the 1840s, it seems to carry rather than been in such decomposing government that its come up was, in all scene, quickly dilapidated away. Unusually, it may carry been along with a group of Layard's UK- ceiling Nineveh carvings which were lost for instance the convey hauling them sank in the Channel Tigris. Cheerfully, dispel, an inventor employed by Layard had rather than diagrammatic the bass-relief - and that inaccurate representation, in recent times recognised by Dr. Dalley as portraying the garden, had been reproduced in Layard's book about Nineveh published in London in 1853.Further investigate by Dr. Dalley as a result not compulsory that, while Assyria had sacked and conquered Babylon in 689 BC, the Assyrian bank account Nineveh may well carry been regarded as the foreign Babylon' - as a result creating the next belief that the Killing Area were in fact in Babylon itself. Her investigate revealed that at least one other community in Mesopotamia - a city called Borsippa - was body described as "different Babylon" as primeval as the 13 century BC, as a result implying that in antiquity the name can be hand-me-down to obtain chairs other than the real Babylon. A pointer occurred for instance she noticed from faster investigate that while Sennacherib had sacked and conquered Babylon, he had actually renamed all the gates of Nineveh while the names unadventurously hand-me-down for Babylon's city gates. Babylon had always named its gates while its gods. A long time ago the Assyrians sacked Babylon, the Assyrian sovereign with the sole purpose renamed Nineveh's city gates while people exceptionally gods. In vocabulary of organization, it was in focus that Nineveh was in effect becoming a foreign Babylon'. "An artist's icon of what the Killing Area at Nineveh would""carry looked intricate c700BC [Credit: Terry Drop / Stephanie Dalley]"Dr. Dalley as a result looked at the relation environment of Babylon and Nineveh and realized that the extremely still prevent shout the real Babylon would carry finished it unendurable to toss faint water to hold the environment of raised garden described in the exemplar sources. As her investigate proceeded it along these lines became completely in focus that the on the edge Area as described can not carry been built in Babylon. In the end her investigate began to star that the innovative exemplar descriptions of the Killing Area had been in print by historians who had actually visited the Nineveh influence.Researching the post-Assyrian history of Nineveh, she realized that Alexander the Well-built had actually camped represent the city in 331BC - reasonable to come he defeated the Persians at the utter battle of Gaugamela. It's well-known that Alexander's followers actually camped by the edge of one of the strong aqueducts that carried water to what Dr. Dalley now believes was the site of the Killing Area.Alexander had on his staff approximately Greek historians together with Callisthenes, Cleitarchos and Onesicritos, whose works carry fancy been lost to posterity - but eloquently people identifiable historians' works were sometimes hand-me-down as sources by the very authors who approximately centuries next described the garden in works that carry survived to this day. "Delineation of a bas-relief from the palace of Sennacherib's grandson in Nineveh, showing what""is now expected to carry been the Killing Area [Credit: Stephanie Dalley]""It's subjugated tons years to find the draw to exhibit that the garden and associated skill of aqueducts and canals were built by Sennacherib at Nineveh and not by Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. For the prime time it can be shown that the Killing Precincts really did position" believed Dr. Dalley. The Killing Area were built as a powerfully crescent theatre-shaped multi-tiered nervy pile some 25 metres high. At its target was a colossal slope fed by invisible streams of water faint down its sides. Vegetation and plant life were planted in invisible nervy fields constructed on top of sheltered colonnades. The widespread garden was shout 120 metres kitty-cornered and it's likely that it was irrigated with at least 35,000 litres of water brought by a network and aqueduct skill from up to 50 miles away. Dressed in the garden itself water was raised repeatedly by colossal water-raising head screw-pumps.The just revealed draftsman of the Killing Area, Sennacherib of Assyria - and Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who was unadventurously associated with them - were both fierce war leaders. Sennacherib's object v Jerusalem was immortalized some 2500 years next in a poem by Lady Byron telling how "the Assyrians came down intricate a wolf on the pack up," his supporters "glistening in purple and gold."Both were excessively eminent for destroying iconic church buildings. Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon kaput Solomon's Holy place in Jerusalem and according to one appreciably next tradition was with reservations turned voguish a beast for his sins v God. Sennacherib of Assyria kaput the strong temples of Babylon, an act which was believed to carry astonished the Mesopotamian world. Beyond doubt tradition holds that for instance he was next murdered by two of his sons, it was divine opponent for his injure of people temples.Peculiarly it may be that the Killing Area were the prime of the seven 'wonders' of the world to be so described - for Sennacherib himself referred to his palace garden, built in shout 700BC or afterward while, as "a thrill for all the peoples". It's virtuously now dispel that the new investigate has ultimately revealed that his palace garden were in no doubt one of the Seven Wonders of the Childhood Design. Specified historians carry hint that the Killing Area may even carry been only fabled. The new investigate ultimately demonstrates that they really did position."Author: David Keys Source: The Self-directed [May 06, 2013]"

Taurus New Moon April 21 2012 Overview And Fixed Stars

Ted Turner Finds Religion But Misses Mark On Malaria
Mr. Turner, right, is apologizing to the religious for insulting religion most of his life, but partnering with churches to fight malaria. We applaud his interest but disagree with his method. Mr. Turner has chosen the politically correct route of bed nets instead of the effective route of utilizing DDT. Using heavy outdoor spraying of DDT would eliminate the mosquitos that carry the malaria parasite and after the pest is eliminated, stop the spraying. That is the way we eliminated malaria in the United States and is a very good model for eliminating malaria in the region where is is needlessly killing the most people: Africa. The disease kills more than 1 million people a year - mostly women and children under the age of 5 in Sub-Saharan Africa Traditional environmental groups are more concerned about the health of birds than the lives of African children and have used their multibillion-dollar international might to crush the effective use of DDT to permanently solve this problem. All bird populations threatened by the use of DDT in America recovered after its use stopped.Turner's UNITED NATIONS FOUNDATION, which he started in 1997 with a 1 billion donation, launched a 200 million anti-malaria project with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the United Methodist Church. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also provided a 10 million grant that will help promote the campaign in churches. Turner's foundation is working with the NOTHING BUT NETS campaign, which provides insecticide-treated bed nets in needy communities. Instead of wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on ineffective bed nets, several million dollars worth of DDT should be utilized to solve this problem. AAEA would be happy to make these arrangements.
