My most difficult realization was that light and dark are not of differing
sources but, rather, flip sides of the same coin. (Yep..raised a fundamental
Christian.) For IF, in the beginning before time, there was only the One,
then all that exists must come from the One. And in the vein of "as below,
so above" then just as we are capable of great good and great evil, then so
must Creator be capable of such as It is the progenitor of all. After all,
Mother Gaia was never a gentle place.her children eat her other children,
you know? It has always been the way.
Presumably, we are capable of choosing light over darkness because we are
the most "highly evolved" species on the planet. (I personally can find
argument with that "evolved" assumption. LOL) That is, after all, the reason
for religions-to "help" us choose good over evil, right?
We are, nonetheless, quite capable of "eating our brothers and sisters." We
do not always choose the high road, as it were. And at times, it may be that
defensive/aggressive behaviors are called for, perhaps even necessary. At
the very least, they are an integral part of our makeup. I would rather not
believe this, but unless I'm missing a connection somewhere, I'm afraid I
do.
Perhaps the "craft" of witchcraft is the wisdom to know when and how to
choose the high road?
