I see a breakout through the psychological resistance keeping humanity from progressing past the socioeconomic limits imposed by globally mandated use of non-renewable, costly, and inefficient fossil fuels. In addition the internal combustion engine, coal burning power plants, and other archaic technologies of the early 20th century will be supplanted with new technologies gradually starting a green renaissance. I envision this rebirth of the green movement in conjunction with continuing scientific research too not only make green energy ubiquitous but available at grid parity. The first thing I had to do was get rid of this box. It's the box of yarn and cross stitch Kurt's mom gave me when we helped her move- in September. Yeah. I had planned to get rid of it from the beginning because it was all things I didn't want, either I didn't like the colors or the cross stitch had a religious theme. But for some reason, the box just didn't go anywhere. The box was falling apart so I repacked it into plastic bags and took every thing to Goodwill.

I had planned to put the wash pot in this corner because that would look great under my staff. But it wouldn't fit. I wouldn't be able to open the front door.

The tv used to be here. For some reason, I never pushed the cords into the floor, I just left them sprawled out. What is up with this corner of my house? Maybe the energy is stuck because we don't really use it.

After pushing the satellite cords through the floor, then mopping, I lugged in the wash pot. Then I discovered the crate was too big to fit inside. Bummer.

The Wayfinders by Wade Davis - Wade taught me why knowing magick may not only be personally empowering, but perhaps vital to our survival. Nothing can sum it up better that this quote:

Word to the Lovecraft aficionado: there are plenty of cheap editions out there because Lovecraft's work is in the public domain, but if you want insight and the texts in their purest form look for anything edited by S.T. Joshi.

The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell with Bill Moyers - I don't think anything I can say will add to the well deserved accolades of Joseph Campbell, so once again, I will let the quote do the work.

Tb Joshua Actually Foresaw The Synagogue Church Tragedy

Leader of the Synagogue Church of all Nations, Prophet Temitope Joshua, has claimed that he foresaw the tragedy, which befell his ministry few weeks back.

"I have been on this journey for 27 years. Do you think God can close His eyes and rubbish everything here? They are asking God to bring more evidence of whether He is the one who called me. Warn everyone to be very careful. This issue at hand is a delicate issue.

"People are using this to gain money and friends. This is a warning. Whatever people want to write, let them write; they will be the ones to read it. I said our God would get back to them. He has started somewhere. He is coming. If your brother is involved, unless he can resurrect the people who died, he will join them. If you can resurrect the people who died, you can go free.

"The servants, the people who sent them, the people who heard the stories all around and those who want to use it for themselves and to disturb my spirit, you may likely join them. Be careful. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Let us be very careful with our tongues", he warned.

Urging those questioning his calling not to sway his followers, he added that they should extend love and affection to the victims and relations of those involved in the tragedy.

The prophet insisted that the 115 victims were martyrs, adding that their relations would see the continuation of the work of God "they died and suffered for.

"Your responsibility is to the victims and the relations of the victims and martyrs of faith. If you say you are born again, wherever the victims and their relations are, wherever the relations of the martyrs of faith are, look for them. Let them know you are praying for them. What you eat; let them eat it.

"What you wear; let them wear. What you have on your table, let them have it on their tables, too. Share what you have with them - your love, prayer, affection and strength. Share it with them at this time. This is what we call 'born again' - my pain is your pain. Your joy is my joy.

"The multitude of people who claim to be with T.B. Joshua in prayer - if the same people turn to the families of the victims and martyrs of faith, don't you think life would be better for them than before? Join them; look for them", TB Joshua added.

Psychology Of Religion

Over the last few months I've taken up running again. Now, I feel the need to point out that I am not exactly what most people would consider an athlete. I'm not slim. I don't have boundless energy. I don't glow, rather I sweat like a hog. I'm a short, pudgy, diabetic with pretensions of athleticism. I've taken up running again (I ran when I was a kid) for two main reasons: to improve my health and, more importantly, to find a better way to incorporate meditation into my life. Like most modern Americans, I need to exercise more and stress less. Exercise is all well and good as a healthy habit but I really don't pick up new habits unless they support my spirituality and magickal practices. I figured that the only way I was going to be able to really hold on to any form of exercise as a regular part of my life would be to make it part and parcel to my spiritual practice. It's easy to make hiking in the mountains a spiritual practice because dear gods the mountains are glorious - the interurban trail is less so. So how do I go about making my thrice weekly pounds around the neighborhood, past the quick-e-mart and the pub, spiritual? I started off by focusing on my running technique. I picked up the kindle version of Barefoot Running Step by Step because the idea of running in a more evolutionarily appropriate way than pounding on your heels sounded a lot less painful than what I had been doing. I've found that running barefoot style is a lot easier and more natural than conventional running and it has an odd way of increasing mindfulness. Mindfulness, that buzzword of the meditation scene, basically refers to the condition of paying attention to the moment rather than letting your thoughts drift about. When you're whole mind is enrapt with the thousand natural sensations and bodily observations that running produces it's pretty hard not to be mindful. After a few weeks of running this way I found myself finally achieving a runner's high - something I had previously thought was just a myth.Since I seemed to be achieving mindfulness to easily just by paying attention to my feet and knees as I ran along I decided to see what other folks had to say about running meditations. I picked up Zen and the Art of Running and was happy to find that I was not alone in feeling like running could really support my spiritual practice. That book talks about the basics of mindfulness and attention and how to allow running or other intense physical activity to focus your attention and make mindfulness more natural. I find that shifting meditation time from sitting quietly and focusing on something (which I really do all day anyways) to deliberate movement (i.e. exercise) has really improved my relationship with the depths of my brain. I've always been crap at traditional zen meditation. My mind is like a rabid hamster that runs on its wheel until it passes out from exhaustion. Sitting and emptying my mind has really never worked for me. Doing something intensely physical, like hiking up a mountain or running a long distance, has a way of pulling me out of my head and into my body that makes it impossible for that hamster to keep going and makes a meditative state seem natural.Now that I'm engaging a meditative practice on a regular basis I'm beginning to appreciate what people have been saying about it for so long. It helps me to clear my head, de-stress, and refocus my mind from everyday trivialities to more weighty things. Anything that lets me stop worrying about groceries and my next oil change and lets my mind contemplate the complexities of the soul has got to be a good thing. If you've been having trouble just sitting and meditating I highly recommend engaging the body with the mind instead. And for those of you with smartphones, I highly recommend the Buddhify app. It's basically a guide to meditation for the busy young professional. It's quite fantastic.
